"Two opposing groups"
That says it all, really. Pro-British and ANTI British groups.
Yet you take the side always of the anti British group and present it as justice.
@JustStop_Oil
Defacing shared cultural heritage is shameful. Stonehenge belongs to everyone. It is not a canvas for activism.
What might be more effective is convincing people with compelling logical argument and data...
@DrewPavlou
It's fascinating to watch the narrative evolve in real time. A week ago many anti Zionists were rabidly egging on Hezbollah to destroy Israel. Now they are crying about the fact the attacks were replied to and weapons stashes destroyed.
Another week until it's genocide? 🤔
@jtworr
And threatening anyone who even shares posts about these things with prosecution and arrest
"think before you post"
meanwhile, mobs with knives and masks? all fine and barely worth commenting on, apparently.
It's genuinely terrifying to see.
@jgo34
If wager that most academics who self identify as leftists wouldn't be able to explain the first thing about why they hold their positions. They do it BC they have a vague sense that it is "the good side" and that to disagree would make them "bad people".
@brainrotpol
@TheOmniLiberal
@RubinReport
Destiny spent the entire debate saying "if the other side gets to be evil so do I", as if this means he isn't being evil.
He is being evil - by his OWN ADMISSION.
@Nature
The Nobel Prizes sample the most extreme outliers. Unless men and women were absolutely identical in their statistical distributions of effort, talent, interest, and so on in STEM, there would be an extreme bias one way or the other.
Nothing to sweat about
@GSpellchecker
Exactly. I'm not Christian, I don't believe in god, and I think religions are fair game for jokes... But I'm not sure here what the joke was. It just seemed intentionally provocative towards the majority religion of France itself.

I have served on federal funding review panels. I don't do climate science, but I know how the review process works.
If a proposal came in that said it was going to pursue non-human explanations for climate change and the people reviewing thought "no way" it would be dead.
@guardiannews
Lol - they can't handle criticism and can't respond to it and they can't shut it down, so they just leave because they are cowardly scumbags.
You can just taste the authoritarianism on the air - it's coming off them in a thick steam.
@Rob_ThaBuilder
If so, will be important to make this story as big as possible. So many people took sides on this and the reckoning must force people to acknowledge whatever the evidence shows.
@tom_watson
Tom, you do not speak on behalf of the UK - certainly not me.
Anyone willing to condemn UK gov on their authoritarian overreach is on the right lines in my mind.
@Kathleen_Tyson_
@OdysseusDr
That's not really a rebuttal to the point being made about history and it is also exactly what people are complaining about lol
@dwallacewells
The fact that this is the first lines of an abstract of an academic article is, not to put too fine a point on it, a total disgrace.
It's the opening to a dystopian thriller, not a scientific assessment of anything.
The paper contains nothing to support such a claim, either.

Freedom of speech.

It would be plausibly dangerous in parts of east London to walk around and be openly Jewish. At the very least, I know people who percieve that and take action accordingly.
@vjgtweets
As a Brit, I find it sickening that customers are expected to decide whether or not someone should be paid a proper wage. You guys should reject this madness and make companies pay proper wages to their staff.

This definition of gender is a fashion that can be worn or discarded at will. That's fine, but sex is inherent and immutable. Bathrooms denote spaces reserved for a particular sex.

Because you are intolerant with no ability to engage with people that disagree with you? Because your instinct is to crush dissent with authoritarian measures? Because you want to make everything 10x WORSE rather than listen to ordinary people?

Your bio claims you promote science based medicine...
Yet the foundations of one of your key moral medical stands will soon be banned as unsupported by evidence in most civilised nations.
You also argue science based on 'morality', not reason, which is quite medieval.
Shame.
@ArchRose90
Ironically, it is the % of illegal immigrants who are religious extremists with no interest in womens or gay rights who more accurately fit the label far right!
@gideonmack
@SwipeWright
You can't be "treated" for having Y chromosomes that have in fact manifested in male physical advantages.
It is by itself a disqualifying factor to be in the women's competition.
@ClimateBen
Your Marxist propaganda is showing through the gaps in your argument Ben.
Capitalism has and continues to bring more people out of poverty than any other system in history.
@gideonmack
@SwipeWright
Yes, it is. if someone carries a Y chromosome but is insensitive to male hormones, they develop physiologically as a woman despite being genetically male and have no advantage. If someone is XY and has a DSD but is not insensitive to male hormones, they will develop with a
@mattzarb
@elonmusk
Your words are contradictory. The same opportunity IS a fair opportunity. We should NOT give people different opportunities based on things they cannot control, like their skin colour. That is racist and it is fundamentally wrong.
@AndyHearn09
Her argument was that this person has XY chromosomes and is potentially simply male with a DSD. Given the lack of evidence presented against this, it does remain on the table.
But why bother to represent the argument properly, right?
@gensiniwx
@ChrisMartzWX
It pays your salary just as my grant pays mine. We are evidently doing the work for profit and we have a financial incentive to oversell our ideas to build a reputation and get more funding.
That is why we mark each others work with peer review, though this is often almost
@Dorianlynskey
I agree it is illegal. But the claim is here that the sentences are disproportionate. Many years in jail for a few comments online definitely seems disproportionate to me. It also seems like it cannot possibly be applied equally, given how many wild comments I see from people
@DiannaLGunn
Sorry to break it to you, but this is because people love his books. Celebrate it and all that these outstanding authors bring to the industry, rather than exuding jealousy and seeing the whole thing as a zero sum game.
Vibe check: fail.
@kewgardens
Deeply arrogant to think that disagreement means the other person is simply "intolerant and hateful"
Besides, it's not an inclusive environment if you insist on promoting controversial politics over and above the study and preservation of nature 💚

Each to their own :) To be specific, I mainly don't like how it is pretty featureless and bland. There are so many houses (not all expensive) that have character and I just vastly prefer that personally
@HeidiBachram
Most insane part of this is that Israel is engaged in a multi-front war with groups that were founded on explicitly genocidal charters. Jews opposing the genocidal intent of these groups is then itself framed as genocidal. Evil stuff.

How can you compare these two when COVID caused that gigantic drop at the end of trump's? You'd need to normalise for that somehow and you haven't.

@afneil
Maybe go after the people who disagree and don't care than people highlighting the absurdity of a tyrannical regime who agree with you? Jesus - humour is a WEAPON against tryanny, not it's sword
@RupertLowe10
This is in fact simply paying people to:
(1) Create a racist, sexist, and homophobic atmosphere in the NHS;
(2) Deprioritise merit in favour of things people cannot control in hiring and promotion; and
(3) Force people to spend time on frivolous matters instead of saving lives.
@MrMatthewTodd
I am angry at JSO. But also... there is no science behind this claim. I challenge you to provide models demonstrating an uninhabitable Earth from anthropogenic climate change.

Also word of advice to stop attacking monuments like terrorists do. It's turning literally everyone against you and ruining my reputation as an Earth Scientist by even vague association.

@JustStop_Oil
Oh, good - well, in that case, I'll hop on over to drag it into the sea to protest my favourite cause.
What sort of an argument is that?
@ClimateBen
Your source is what? An ancient guardian article? This nonsense makes me think I should do my own survey, which would surely reveal the opposite (I have rarely met anyone that thinks this and I work in Earth Sciences at a uni)
@khalidi79397
Because they simply watched left wing academics speak for a bit and realised that the west was infected with the same lunatic lefties as helped the Iranian Islamic revolution succeed.
@mcharlesworth71
@JustStop_Oil
What's facing collapse? The house of cards of claiming the world will literally end from climate change? Can we come back to reality here??
@eyeslasho
Science denial is an interesting one. You can reject a consensus, but that would not be a rejection of the method itself. Not much in science is established to the point where disagreeing is impermissible - often the greatest progress comes from those considered by the majority
@renacido42
@BriannaWu
That's BC in leftism the ends justify the means.
Hence, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
In this case, the enemy is status quo capitalist western society, which is also opposed by Islamists.
