Hyperbole to say business is blocked, there are other Wanaka locations that were not opposed 300+ said no to a rural, outstanding natural landscape, world class visitor destination entry point next to MT iron reserve.

@actparty Tourism = staying in a place more than 1 night & less than 1 year. Dependent on pull factors - places, people, passions. That make someone choose a place. This was a no to a location not a business, aesthetics at a rural entrance of a world class destination, ONL etc isn’t weird

@the_salty_one_ String of pearls … invest in infrastructure for countries that have no way to afford it, build ports, airports, treasuries, hospitals in these third world countries around the sth pacific. When countries default on payments, the assets and locations they are in are held by China

@shouldveknown11 I’d feel better if I thought they were all using their supposedly self contained toilets 😢 the freedom camp carparks in Dunedin at the rail yards had human poop every couple of feet along the fence line when I was there recently.

@nogulagsagain We have a lot from SA who come to NZ, like any migrants they still need help to integrate into communities, visa requirements are tough for family members to achieve work and stay here. Costs to live and get established. Leaving behind friends and family. It’s hard going
