@laderafrutal I agree re: incentives, but I do think it's possible FPÖ will strike a deal out of fear that ÖVP will re-appoint Kurz for the election. It's unclear how successful he would be, but I think the FPÖ might want to avoid the uncertainty.

The second poll is out since the centrist coalition talks in Austria collapsed earlier this month. The far right FPÖ continues its upward trend (closing in on 40% of the first time ever) while the conservative ÖVP now down 7 compared to the election in late September

The slow downward tend in the polls that the CDU/CSU in Germany were seeing since snap elections were called in early November seems o have been stopped for now

If the House can't pick a Speaker, it can't count the electoral votes and deem DJT president. Come Jan. 20 Biden and Harris must step aside (per law), so the president pro tempore of the Senate becomes chief executive. All hail President Charles Grassley!

What would happen if you'd redesign German political parties based on clustering voters opinions on issues? Very cool project (a pretty visualizations) by @c_endt, @colorfuldata and @tamaraflemisch

While there hasn't been a ton of new polling recently, today seems like a good day to take a look at our polling average for Germany. There has been some positive movement for Scholz' Social Democrats, including the first poll since June 2024 that has them ahead of the AfD.

Not a ton of movement in German parliamentary polls but if you squint you can see some slight improvement for Greens (and maybe for Social Dems, but that's based on two polls only)
