Check out the lightning off in the distance on our Waco skycam. Storms are moving in, but the severe weather threat has been lowered as an outflow boundary moved ahead of the storms and helped calm things down. Gusty winds, localized flooding, and small hail still possible

There is a low chance we could see some rain in Central Texas by early Sunday morning. A complex of storms is expected to develop up north and push south in our direction. Storms will likely fall apart as they approach.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Lampasas and Coryell County until 5:45 for 60-70 MPH wind gusts and golf-ball size hail. The strongest portion of this storm will move near Copperas Cove, Gatesville, Killeen, and Lampasas soon!

A flood advisory has been issued in Central Texas. Recent heavy rains may lead to street and creek flooding in addition to flooding over low-water crossings. If you see standing water on the roads, don't drive through it! Turn around, don't drown!

Just shortly after 7 AM, Waco's temperature dropped to 8°, shattering the old record of 11° set in 1930! If Waco's temperature dropped to 7°, that would mark the coldest morning since 1989.

Significant ice accumulations look possible in Central Texas into Wednesday as multiple waves of widespread rain fall. Ice accumulation could be between a quarter-inch and half-inch on a widespread basis - With the highest ice totals along and especially west of I-35.

Tropical Depression 8 has formed and is set to make landfall as Tropical Storm Hannah Saturday between Galveston and Port Mansfield. This storm is expected to bring heavy rain to the coast but Tropical Storm Watches have been issued for parts of the Texas Coast.
