1st a/c'13. Ex UK nurse, in NZ since '98. Family all in UK. Twin mum to 'one of each' & proud to have 4 gorgeous grandies. Slave to elderly puss, Muffin.
1st from my backyard and the rest from the front of my place and the neighbour's lawn. Not as bright to the naked eye but these pics are insane and I'm so excited.
Due to greedy landlord I had to cancel my local paper a while back, so no more puzzles. Package arrived unannounced for me this morning. Such a wonderful surprise to find 2 giant 2023 puzzle books via Amazon au. Print also giant 😂😂😂! Unearthed culprit- son, my twin 2, in UK❤️.
#RIP
@Theresoucefult1
this isn't how it was meant to go. We were both going to enjoy being home alone with our respective cats, 'not doing christmas'. No fancy cooking but plenty of snacks. You'd be doing a lego model & I'd be doing a jigsaw puzzle. So many of us will miss you.🐢
Further to my 2024 post I am finding it really difficult to come to terms with, in a nutshell, being surplus to my daughter's requirements as her mother & my 4 grandchildren's 'Upside Down Nana'. Sadly for the sake of my wellbeing, I wont be having any further contact. 💔
@bartsnz
Nooooo! This is the worst news. I'm so sorry, Sarah. I'm just gobsmacked. So thankful you acted on your instinct to get a check done. We used to have some lovely 'chats' but I didn't even know her real name. She was the kindest soul. 💔 Shall I copy your message & put on bsky?
Thought I was a goner just now. My returned covid symptoms now include violent coughing fits aided and abetted by large tonsils & my asthma pattern. I obstructed several minutes ago & it took a fair while to breathe again. I don't usually panic but it had me worried. Sats ok now.
Today marks the 26th anniversary of my arrival to my new home, NZ. What a rollercoaster it has been, certainly not the plain sailing I thought it would be though.
@electra_rhodes
I didn't want this story to end and what an amazing gift you have for completely drawing the reader in. So glad you and your friends have such special memories of your mate Pink. He was obviously an amazing character and a great friend.
It's no use putting your phone down to charge and then expecting miracles, Kim. You have to hook it up, plug it in and switch the damn thing on, woman! Geez, what is happening to my brain and common sense?
@dimsie
Talk about rubbing our noses in it. So many of us existing and not living, just trying to make ends meet and 'these people' think nothing of spending $110 for a 2hour tea party to meet our nowhere near great prime minister's stepford wife. 🤢🤮
I always dread this silly season until New Year has well & truly gone so being on my own means I can ignore all the rituals/celebrations. For a number of reasons from the last week in november I've been on even more of a downer this year & just can't shift the low moods. Ho hum.
@infinite_ink
I understood that landlords can't object to tenants' chosen hoardings on their rental properties, unless it is stipulated in the particular tenancy agreement.
@LizzieMarvelly
Keep to the recommended instructions and don't overdo the salbutamol/salamol/ventolin inhaler, as it will become ineffective and play havoc with your heart rate and other vital signs. I would speak to your gp with regards to asthma management. You may need a short steroid course
@PaulBrislen
It's so bloody unnecessary. I had an uncle who lived to a ripe old age but measles as a child that left him deaf and with v. poor eyesight. He became a loner from a young age. I was lucky and had no after effects from having it. I had left school before vaccination was available.
Why on earth would random men from the USA 'of a certain age' and who are interested in permanent long term relationships, start following me? Ffs, I'm in my flippin' 70's and came to my senses many years ago! 😂😂 Blockety block.
A repost from one of my siblings still in the UK. Credit unknown.
I laughed too much at this. Better not give our current government any ideas. They'd probably seriously consider it!
@Writer_Caroline
What a nightmare situation you are all living in. How you're managing even to explain it in cold hard facts is admirable when you're completely broken inside. I can only join others in hoping for a transplant miracle for L, with continued stability in cardiac function until then.
@MsScarletBlade
What a tragic situation you're in and how hard it must be for you to decide on your next steps, knowing how confrontational they will almost certainly be. I'm glad you have some good support with you right now. Sending warm thoughts your way.
I felt the feline eyes boring into my back and heard the protest noise as I ate my chicken drumsticks this evening. Ended up giving her a little bit in an effort to stop the squealing. Ha! She had plenty to say when no more was put her way. 16 yo Muffin is now sulking. 😂
@ThisIsCorey
I've had the local Labour candidate knocking on my door, on a saturday with me still in pj's and dressing gown! The shame of it. Nice chap, we had a good chat and he took some notes. None of the other candidates have appeared yet. I'm waiting to be asked same ?. Answer is ready!
@ThisIsCorey
Oh Corey, I'm so sorry your grandmother has passed away. My condolences to you, your mum and sister especially. Regardless of the indecent haste of her funeral arrangements, you will always have your own special memories of your grandmother. The aunt can never control those. 💔
@jemmasplace
According to google, tidbits is preferred in Canadian and American english and titbits for everywhere else. I didn't realise that although happy to use either.
@MattyAngelNZ
@StephDyhrberg
Matty I did my census on line & didn't like the income question either but when I clicked on the information button it was made easier by showing a table of how much in hand a week added up to the annual amount before tax. I didn't keep a copy of the chart but it might be online.
Why can't I block ads on here any more? I have routinely blocked any ads that come up, purely on principle. This evening clicking on the 3 little dots only shows 2 options to act on - 1) I don't like this ad. 2) Why am I seeing this ad? Grrhh.
@JtheNinjaKitty
Great minds. Posted this yest...

@MattyAngelNZ
Hair and eyebrows to be very envious of (and I am), gorgeous eyes, lovely slim nose and lovely rosebud shaped lips. All sounds pretty darned good to me, Matty. You're not seeing what we all see.
@Writer_Caroline
To be fair, by now you probably know more about L's condition and care than some of the medical personnel. Home is definitely better for now.
I can't face putting the tv or radio on this evening. My blood pressure just wouldn't be able to take the pressure of me getting very worked up and angry at the sights and sounds of some people!
@FeltonR
You what? What world has the owner been living in? We have a person locally whose cats 'mix and mingle' with their siblings and at least 2 of the resultant kittens, after adoption, became progressively blind at an early age.
@KiffinEileen
I would laugh if it wasn't so worrying. The standard of education has either dropped even further than can be imagined or there's one helluva high number of people marrying close relatives. These people vote too. It's alarming.
files and then manually download/save/extract the required drivers' files as per previous hints. Winging it by then but, voilà, windows 10 download and installation + updates duly completed . Quite chuffed

@Becs
Dishes it out here, there and everywhere with no consideration whatsoever, but when he gets any back he runs off crying, stamping his feet or takes himself off twitter for a bit. Pathetic.
@Ahhmandah
Geez, that's just horrendous & I am so sorry this has happened to you. What an amazing dog Annie is to protect you like that. I do hope you are doing ok now & hopefully have someone with you for comfort & just in case this trauma sets off a temporary increase in epileptic fits.
@AuntyFeeble
That must been such a difficult decision to make but there comes a time when self-preservation needs to take precedence. I wish you well and hope you're able to recharge your batteries with a little tlc from those close to you.
@MrHilariouskiwi
Take your lead from your mate & how they are handling it. Home or Hospice, up & about still or confined to bed, able to go out for a coffee and a chinwag perhaps or confined to barracks? I'm sure you'll both enjoy the catchup with plenty of reminiscing. Say what needs to be said.
@Theresoucefult1
thinking of you on your 'big birthday'. You have left such a huge hole in twitterland and the blue place for so many of us and I'm still trying to get my head round it. 💔🐢
I've worn specs all day for 30years. Today I got down to the bus-stop with 2 minutes to spare for 40minute trip each way and realised I didn't have my damn specs on. Driving myself mad. It's been 5 months since I had covid and I want my brain back!
@MotherOfMeeps
You warned us, we accept you as you need to be and grumpy is hardly surprising. There are hordes of us thinking of you every day and will be extra concerned for your wellbeing on tuesday, especially. Grump away.
So pleased with myself today although I'll probably get laughed at...
Have started using my laptop again which runs on windows 8.1. Keeping in mind all my computer knowledge is self taught, I decided to upgrade to 10 from microsoft website, free. .
@nzmrichards
Ffs. If someone is bullying they need to be called out so why on earth do you get reprimanded for doing so? Suspect bully had feelings hurt and was embarrassed in front of everyone else so made a complaint. Bless. Prat!
