So, I decided to change a character's name in my manuscript from Elle to Charolotte. I did the 'replace all' option...but forgot to put spaces before and after Elle...so now I'm finding words such as 'compCharlotted' everywhere. Fun. So much fun.🤦♀️

When I queried, I’d read agents weren’t looking for urban fantasy b/c it wasn’t selling. Then I signed w/ my agent. When we went on sub we were told UF was a tough sell before it sold in a 3-book deal to a Big 5. Find someone who believes in you as much as you believe in yourself

I was mediocre at best in English classes growing up, didn’t read for fun until I was in my late twenties, & started writing at 34. I’m now 41 w/ an agent & a 3-book deal at a dream publisher. There’s no such thing as timelines or the right age. There’s only dreams & persistence.

When I queried, I had dismally low request rates. If I got requests for partials, I’d think ‘it’s only a partial’ as if that meant the agent liked it less. But it was a partial that led to a full that led to my agent offer. If they asked for it, they’re interested. Be proud.

I had one agent tell me PNR wasn’t selling in a live pitch a few weeks before I received an offer of pub on MARKED FOR GRACE. I had close to 50 agent rejections on SHADOWED MOONLIGHT before I signed w/ Helen, who then sold it to Hodderscape (Hachette). Your dream is out there!
AGENTS HATED THE BORROW A BOYFRIEND CLUB SOOO MUCH Y'ALL. i queried for months and months. one agent even said they were "offended" i'd sent it because it "made no sense"
when i went on sub, several editors offered almost instantly. you NEVER know what's around the corner!

go through parting ways w their agents & I PROMISE, authors are not lying when they say you’re better to stay in the trenches than to have a bad agent. A bad agent can stall your career for a very long time, leaving you right back at square one, in the trenches. But a good 8/11

I got a lot done yesterday and am now two-thirds of the way through these edits. The reality of going on sub is hitting me. I’ve always believed just because something’s difficult doesn’t mean it’s not worth it, but it doesn’t make it any less scary. Exciting, but scary.
