@whitmuir1 Probably not. Just chance perhaps, but fingers crossed will become regular again. Meanwhile, look what was on my bedroom ceiling this morning! Only ever had one here, in our garden.

Looking forward to talking about moths and the mothy legacy of Alice Balfour in East Lothian. This Saturday in Haddington. All welcome :-) #MothsMatter #MothMonday
‘MEETINGS with moths – 100 years of moth recording in East Lothian’ is the title of a talk in Haddington.

@colindavison62 How exciting! Looks like it, though the underwing colour would clinch for sure. There have been a few Red (and also more than a few Blue) in Binning, and a couple in Belhaven this year. Both species could well be breeding here.

@MalcolmQuirie It was slightly excessive. But 'only' one SMW, unlike you. Yours were possibly vc82 firsts too?

@DanBrownNature Definitely nice to see! I'm now in far NW, so much less likely to add to the tally...

@joaniemac17 @BC_Scotland Still quite rare in Scotland. But not unheard of and gradually becoming less rare... keep your eyes peeled!

@ruth_newby @BC_Scotland @savebutterflies @BritishMoths Good question as to why do they gather. I don't know! The flight season isn't over, but my local ladies have either finished being adults or given up hanging out in the culvert. Similar pattern each year. Would be interesting to follow (meta)populations obsessively.

@joaniemac17 Thankyou Joanie. Danni the filmmaker certainly did well, though I do get carried away quite easily with a trapful of moths and some interested people 😁. Hopefully that enthusiasm will never wane.
