Officially moth-obsessed, but also easily distracted by butterflies, flies, wasps and spiders plus birds. Equally crazy about Bruce Springsteen.

@LauraPAuthor My mother-in-law says if you don’t get into a book after the first 50 pages, don’t bother. Life is too short.

@bugmanjones I’m intrigued by the kite design, very pointy-nosed. And a nice naturalistic representation of a dragonfly in flight, quite unusual for the period I would think.

Spotted a smallish ichneumon on an Oxeye Daisy in the garden and took a few photos. Didn't realise until I downloaded them that she was actually ovipositing into the flower. My question is, what host was she targetting? @BroadGavin @jaswboparai @ivysuckle #ichneumons

@ivysuckle Following on from the Buff Tip discussion, this is a moth I only recorded for the first time this year! Definitely handsome though.

@ivysuckle Species designated ‘common’ in field guides actually span quite a range of abundance. Garden Tiger is still labelled as such in Waring and Townsend though whether this will be the case in future editions I don’t know.

@ivysuckle I know what you mean, it does seem a bit of a disservice to call it common, but it is one that most moth-ers should get fairly regularly (though I didn’t get one until my third year of trapping)
