Sadly this platform is killing me slowly. It used to be so good. From now on I’ll be shifting over to Bluesky with the same handle: @danbrownnature.bsky.social Find me there & hopefully we can get back to sharing good wholesome natural history content. See you there 👋

@LewisStuff @StevenFalk1 I’ve been searching for the edge of the world but still not sailed over the edge of it

@LewisStuff @StevenFalk1 😂😂😂 I was waiting to see if anyone would pick up on that. I’m a changed man Alan - nah only kidding. Early explorers would often refer to weird and wonderful species as creations for obvious reasons, and whilst I have that awe I more clued up on their evolution!

@StevenFalk1 Yeah it really was utterly stunning. That area and New Guinea have an insane number of amazing insects. I feel like Wallace must have felt exploring Wallacea - the excitement and awe at new forms and beautiful creations!

@StevenFalk1 You legend, thanks Steven - What a great site and a new resource for me. It's a Rutilia and very similar to Rutilia (Chrysorutilia) imperialis but the patterning is slightly different. I'm not sure how much individual variation this sp shows. Thanks again for the link

Quite probably the weirdest moth I have ever seen… Melittia doddi (most likely) a bizarre Clearwing with rampant leg scales held out along the wing presumably to provide disruptive camo! Utterly amazing. Found in Cairns Botanic Garden today #Lepidoptera #MothsMatter @cairnscity

@ecology_digest @VisitScotland @ShetlandWild @NatureScot Hi Richard, I’m not that clued into self catering on Shetland I’m afraid. We did rent a place a Couple of years ago through Airbnb at Levenwick and we have also historically rented a place in Flabberbista but these have both been 2-bed. Try the visit Shetland site too

A surprise new primate for me at Rainforest Discovery Centre, Sepilok; Hose's Langur now known as Sabah Grey Langur getting harassed by a pair of Prevost's Squirrels. The ultra humidity put pay to the OM1 but it miraculously came back to life today! Happy days #Primates

Excitement overload at Sepilok when Rachael spotted this Myrmarachne spider (Ant-mimic Spider) which was successful hunting the vegetation disguised as a Giant Forest Ant! Every day blows my mind in the rainforest #mimicry #entomology
