Police and community services are both underfunded in the UK. The call to refund the police is an American demand where police is overfunded and community services underfunded. We need more investment in community services but that can't come at the expense of police funding.

Would like to see this coupled with political education and economics being made part of the national curriculum if this happens.
Too many young people come out of school not being aware of these matters, and need to be able to make informed decisions when voting.

I know what you mean, but to be fair if you watch the full video he was asked a very loaded question which they cut in the clip, and he's been vocal about the need to address racism in society in other speeches and has done alot for this through his career.

Johnson's argument was that the advice didn't ever exist, but Starmer proved it did. It was clear on the 25th Feb that there was a huge risk of CV being transmitted in the community with the measures in place at the time, the advice from PHE should've reflected that.

Of course we do, but we need more police. 21,000 police have been cut in the last 10 years and crime has increased alot. This needs to be coupled with substantial reform to address institutional racism in policing and the justice system.

Nice to know my MP who got elected on a labour manifesto thanks to labour campaign resources used one of her first votes of parliament to rebel against labour trying to enact the manifesto she got elected on. Too jarring.
I have been informed by the Chief Whip & the Labour Party leadership that the whip has been withdrawn from me for voting to scrap the two-child benefit cap, which would lift 330,000 children out of poverty.
I will always stand up for the most vulnerable in our society.
