for anyone concerned about this vote, here's why it should still count: and here's why my view is still represented enough if it doesn't: and here's why I'm not that concerned anyway:
alhamdulillah with the love and dua of family, friends, and sincere support, they offered me a place on the doctorate in clinical psychology! turning 27 the same month, stability with meaning and prospects never felt so good (+ pengest soup in london cos it's a may dump now) 🙏🏾

as psychologists, I beg you leave

We are witnessing the LOWEST flow of eSIM donations ever since October. I know this has been too much on all of us, but please let's not give up on Gaza now, please let's keep
#ConnectingGaza
, without eSIMs, Gaza will be TOTALLY isolated. One more push 🥲
Just finished this protest poetry scheme last night with Nines, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Dave, Childish Gambino, Remains, War Photographer, London and passing references to Headie One, Octavian, Fredo, M Huncho, Skengdo and Skepta - I am so dead rn
got the A on the dissertation talking about what makes the site of Islam for Bengalis in London, and a distinction for the whole masters! alhamdulillah, blessings all round and link in bio 🎉🎓🙏🏾
what do you do as a teacher if you don't want to risk the lives of the vulnerable people you live with? strike? quit? move out? sleepover at the school? home teaching isn't an option and I don't want dwp checking they're unhealthy enough to justify their protection
I'm about to start teaching A Level English Language, and I've never been as into an actual curriculum as this one but I really had to be on this module 🙏🏾 - credit to

look at the layers of ignorance towards race and class, and an elitism cased in a community narrative from Tim Worrall and supported by then headteacher Tom Sherrington

Left Bangladesh last year just after Ekushey February. Sharing my article here on English in Sylhet, recognising the force of what the mother tongue has to contend with along with some pics at Bashtola, a base during the liberation 🇧🇩🌄
PTSD is many things, beyond where its research comes from, but it's also a tool for justifying soldiers of oppression - it's no surprise that a huge bulk of its establishing research is from US war criminals in Vietnam, and it's no surprise that this article exists too
At least 1,600 IDF soldiers have started showing symptoms of combat-related PTSD since the start of the ground offensive in the Gaza Strip. So far, 250 soldiers have been discharged, though 76% returned to service.

This project was essentially my first scheme with the class. The 'focused and intense debate' mentioned here has now become the culture of the classroom and I couldn't be more grateful.
The write-up of our 'Teaching a Novel at KS3 Project' is now up on our blog. Though its starting-point was group work, what has emerged is much, much more! We think it provides evidence & food for thought on the most important issues in English today. …
Went to this school. They took our year group into an assembly to tell us we looked how they wanted the school to look when justifying a catchment area to block out that East London / Essex region. Weird assembly given they said the reason for it was extra curricular attendance.
KING EDWARD GRAMMAR SCHOOL (Chelmsford, 2015) - Ms Nicoll said the n word & told White students they can too in the right context. I'm the only Black student, I told her off. She said I thought I was too 'smart'. The assistant head said she didn't direct it at me so its fine
If I'd been introduced to these ideas and their revisions as presented by
@RobDrummond
and
@EngMediaCentre
when I was in school, I'd have definitely done a linguistics degree
We're collecting the gardening stories of Bengalis in the UK and would love to hear from you and your families. Let's celebrate and preserve our rich traditions together - get in touch!

We debated if men are trash with the sixth form today and I can't say it enough, the young people coming up are so well clued in compared to former gens, very hopeful 🙏🏾
when even ofsted, who are one of the many reasons for staff shortages in education, have their own staff shortages, you know the country has no love for teaching
does anyone else think back to their high school english classes and wish they learned about race, class and gender analysis instead of the existential anguish of white men
every instance of calling it the Israel-Hamas war is an instance of justifying war crimes - "Israel" includes civilians but "Hamas" does not, and there's no mention of Palestinians who are the ones being massacred
Husam Zomlot just characteristically tore to shreds Piers Morgan’s attempt to link all Palestinians to Hamas and the Palestinian resistance to terrorism.
Talk for learning is such a fundamental part of teaching - surprised to see so many say they haven't come across it today but enjoyed presenting it to staff across departments. tyvm to

Anyone that's known me over the last four years has at least some idea of poetry club because I haven't been able to not share how incredible they are. The book arrived today and it's a memento more than anything else but it's honestly making the heart feel a kind of way 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

@Aphrothighty
This is where teachers of all races get their attitude and actions all WRONG in terms of shaping children's speech into the standard. THE WAY THEY SPEAK IS VALID. And speech is a part of CULTURE.
Finished up with the Sixth Form on migration, dehumanisation, institutional neglect and neocolonial industry! From Grenfell and Yarl's Wood to Unilever, Burkina Faso and Rana Plaza, we're understanding white supremacy, English and decolonisation 🙏🏾
A reminder that those coming up are active! did this introduction to reform, grassroots change, abolition and revolution with the Sixth Form and there are blessings to come. Find it on most platforms at the link here: 🙏🏾

a recipe for refugees coping with home-sickness that they hadn't ate since around 1975 - community psychology really hits heavy, loving listening to this 🙏🏾
Why is poetry being pushed as the one to drop? The canon is white, as are the curriculum and the teachers that enable whiteness' rootedness. If you're talking about hard to teach, dead off Victorian lit.
there are already other issues (eg. do we know how systems and power function in the first place in order to describe the specifics of how they function in particular contexts?) but nobody's reading to here so I'll stop
In that same lesson, a Kosovan student explained a part of the history behind his father coming as a refugee, while others spoke of Palestine and America, and I ended with Bangladesh - all from an all boys class who supposedly don't engage with poetry?
literally gutwrenching to hear mental health and police services have been so tied together that people have been given prison beds when the wards don't have enough

The fields of mental health hold the potential to depoliticise experiences that are deeply connected to our social, political and economic environments.

and onwards. The BPS could raise the voices of Palestinian psychologists and help to humanise the dehumanised. Instead, its comments are perfectly accommodating of Israeli state actions that are established upon that exact dehumanisation. And even if BPS are (3/5)
from grammarly to notion AI, this progression continues a shift to rigid standardisation that will make the speech of those more excluded from standard english stand out more, even despite it building accessibility to the written standard and its benefits
rivers - a poem published as a thread, ever growing, starting here (if this is dead & I need to stop, tell me):
1. blood flows in money and god knows.
god knows that the lovers are running with no rose.
no gold is the colour of government on road.
go home with a stutter of old.
"The capitalist state we live in benefits from the symbolic capital English holds", "a national organisation feeds into xenophobic discourses" and more from Y13 English Language - my heart's weird cos global anticapitalism makes it feel so warm 🌄🛠️
Palestine has hard evidence of genocide and indubitable pain. Israel has five sentences of powerful propaganda that explicitly ride on the established dehumanising demonisation of Muslims. Injustice is clear to see, but morality just hasn't had enough power to win yet.
@LondonAssyrian
a part of this change might be looking at how we work with trauma, especially where trauma-informed care is in significant places - the pre-traumatic situation is a site for activist psychologists to help design and practice better support with oppressed people

I do hope you're seeing the social cleansing you saw through

and that you reflect on this among the reflections on race I see you're doing atm. Recognise the wrongs and the people that have been disadvantaged by it, & see what you can do to undo it these years later.
