Another severely underappreciated feature in @Solana: native gas relaying!. E.g. Alice signs a tx and sends it to Bob, who can pay for the gas fee of Alice's tx. "Fee payer" of a tx can be different from the original tx signer. EVM doesn't support this native. (tx: transaction).

One extremely under-appreciated feature of Solana is native program upgradability. Ethereum proxy and upgrades are nightmares, e.g. storage collisions and exploits from improper upgrades. Solana programs are stateless, so upgrade is a breeze. Shocked me when I first touched it.

Reading the CircuitBreaker by @real_philogy @Diyahir @tcb_00, one concern is the gas spike. MockERC20 `transferFrom` costs 26,109 gas. With CircuitBreaker, it costs 132,733 gas. Extra 99777 gas used per ERC20 tx. At 50 gwei per gas unit and $2000 ETH, that's $12 extra per tx!

Solidity is bad. It opens up various attack vectors & delegates hardware-level safety to software devs!. Solana & Move are much safer, because the system & language forces devs to take design choices that minimize attack vectors. Move is the strongest form of safety for devs.
Tbh getting quite bearish on smart contracts after the constant hacks over so many years. It's not clear to me what a step function improvement in security would look like here, but it feels like without one the default solutions will be whitelists.

1. We already use half-permissioned blockchains; look at upgradeable proxies like USDC and aggregators. 2. Immutable contracts like Uniswap are permissionless (on protocol-level). One way or the other some people or entities are going to create permissioned tools on blockchains.
It's a slippery slope. Just like the analogy of the frog that is in slow boiling water. If you create the tooling for permissioned systems, you give grounds for regulators to push to use them even in contexts where they aren't necessary. That re-enters trust into the system, as

@fede_intern @StoryProtocol We modified the execution client (Geth for now) to add a precompile related to IP graph, and plan to add more execution-side features in the future. Also gradually adding features at the validator level, e.g. automated dispute triggering adding disputes to top of each block.

Non-enshrined "account abstraction" facilitates *for-profit* companies to build their own solutions encapsulated in their closed ecosystem. I have used Alchemy, Biconomy, etc. for AA โ all have different 4337 accounts for the same user, pain in UX. Now imagine multi-chain ๐ซฅ.
I'm starting to realize 4337 is going to create a disaster for user management of funds. If you thought the USDC schizophrenia problem on Arbitrum was bad, wait until you have eth across ten 4337 wallets because every app dev issued you a wallet behind the scenes. We need 3074.

Ethereum people be like โpayment is the futureโ but when they see payments settle faster & cheaper on other L1s, theyโre like โNOOO BAD PAYMENT BAD L1โ. Solana, Polygon, Avalanche, Sui, etc. at faster final finality than L2s. Of those systems, non-EVMs are much cheaper too.

Crypto tokenomics shaking right now. DeFi is currently a broken system. It's self-referential with only meaningful expansion via external capital injection. Need a lot more derivatives and cash flow games. RWAs are great but we must rehypothecate DeFi money more.
If you want to fix a broken system, you have to pull money OUT, not put more money IN. If you put more money IN, the system interprets it as a reward and uses the money to become even more broken. We get this for businesses. We forget it for nonprofits and governments. ๐ค.
