completely agree. i also don’t tend to ask people how old they are unless it’s relevant. if it’s +10/-10 years outside of my own age, i can *usually* tell but that has not stopped me from having friends who just graduated college to friends who are well into their 80s! 🫶

A man I worked with decapitated his wife before killing their child & himself. Columbia said they died in “tragic circumstances.” This was HORRIFIC domestic violence & his wife once filed a restraining order. I worked alone w/him. NAME IT. Violence isn’t prevented w/politeness.

I wonder if it is because many people have awful school experiences on multiple levels (cultural, social etc). Our experience in educational institutions can be internalized when we are so young, and so people may react to teachers in a way that they do not even fully understand.

it’s easy to be rude to “first-line workers,” but they have little power & undergo much abuse. i was in an airport bathroom where an ✈️ employee was using her break to sob b/c of how she was berated by customers for things beyond her control. 😔 we’re all human. makes me so sad.
