Today I found out that a Swiss Peugeot dealership will sell you what they call a 208 Rallye. Seems to be the same underneath as the 100bhp, 1.2-litre manual 208 it’s based on, but for a wheels and stickers special I think it looks really, REALLY good
“We actually decided to do something cool for once in our modern existence - haha, April Fools! Don’t you feel like an absolute flute because you wanted a budget 911 Dakar? Idiot.”
I’ve done over 2200 miles in the past eight days, and I genuinely cannot think of a single car I would’ve preferred to have been in. Blown away by how well it does literally everything
Getting quite good at parking the Corolla next to very cool Ferraris. This one’s off to Spain for 10 days of driving, with a pillow in the car for when the owner is sleeping in it - absolute hero
Interesting Asda spot today - a Ford Capri, but not as us Europeans know it. Built and sold in Australia as a 2+2 cabrio with Mazda MX-3 running gear, it was also sold in the US as a Mercury.
Never seen one before - I thought it was a Mk2 Prelude from a distance…
Having to walk from Hyde Park Corner to Marble Arch because the Piccadilly Line is out of action can certainly bring up some nice surprises… absolutely perfect 959 obviously takes the cake
Genuinely nearly had a heart attack on the M5 once I realised that this was a full-fat XF-RS Sportbrake - probably my motorway spot of the year. (passenger pic, etc)
What a year 2023 has been. Safe to say that if you’d told 18 year old me what I’d be doing in two years time, he’d never have believed you - and I still can’t, truth be told.
Anyway, here’s my favourite photo of my favourite car I drove this year. More of this in 2024 please…
Was going to wait until I’d taken some nice photos of this to show it, but I just can’t wait to do that. This is my 2000 Fiat Coupe 20v VIS, and I absolutely love it already. Few bits that need sorting but drives well, looks good and sounds even better…
So, a big bit of land has gone up for sale near me. It’s being sold as a farm, but with some repaving and bribes to the local council you’ve got yourself a scarily fast 3.3-mile racetrack that’s very reminiscent of Silverstone’s original layout…
Bit of a soppy one, but I still can’t quite believe this - if you’d told me two years ago that I’d have two features back-to-back in Autocar one day, I would’ve laughed in your face.
A huge thank you to everyone who’s helped me get this far, you know who you are :)
The perfect P1, I think. Neptune Blue, big F1 GTR-inspired five-spokes, and upgraded to HDK spec by Lanzante, meaning P1 GTR bodywork and a 4.0-litre V8 rather than a 3.8-litre. Absolutely gorgeous
Evening all, bit of a weird one but I’m wondering if anyone’s been in this boat before?
Got a lovely letter in the post on Wednesday informing me that I allegedly didn’t pay for my petrol at Beaconsfield Services back in November... (1/ too many)
I’ve decided that I like posting on here, mainly because (unlike Instagram) I don’t feel like I’m trying to game an impossible to please algorithm. Here’s an E30 from the last days of the summer, with
@Nick_Stafford
at the wheel (I think)
Something properly special about a Deltic. Two triangle-shaped 18-cylinder engines with 1650hp each meant that this could do 125mph at full throttle on downhills - not bad for something introduced in 1961
A few favourites from a fantastic weekend on the
@svrofficialsite
- a fantastic first visit, looking forward to the autumn event already. Got a newfound love for Westerns - seriously impressive bits of kit
@EngineMode11
I love the Valkyrie, but every time I see it bought up in a LM context it just annoys me - Aston had the FIA change the rules so they could race a modified version of it, and then pulled the plug. That said, they’re in a much better financial state now than they were then…
Had one of those weird 2:30am urges to start looking at used Opel Senators for some reason. I’m somewhat ashamed to admit how much I like that interior…
Friend’s 944 S is up for sale - £6500 if it’s gone by the end of the month.
Recently restored barn find, solid underneath and with a fresh coat of paint, it was displayed at last year’s London Concours in the 30 under 30 section. Tidy under the bonnet, too - dm for details
Finally stopped by the British Motor Museum today and loved it. Here are some no-context favourites (with a special shoutout to the Range Rover SV Coupe, one of the most inappropriately cool cars [n]ever made)
Japanese stuff was certainly the cream of the crop at Sunday Startup today. Beautiful R32, really nicely done Prelude (2.2, yeah?), beautiful old Celica and a very tidy Integra
Unexpected finds in deepest darkest Leighton Buzzard. When did you last see an LFA or a 997 GT2 RS, let alone one of the former parked next to two of the latter?
Only took five visits, but I finally saw some stuff on the Mach Loop! A bit of a photo learning curve I reckon but I’m so happy with how these have come out. You really don’t appreciate just how low they are until you realise that you’re dead level with them as they approach…
After a three hour drive, the new old(ish) car has reached home without blowing up, so I’m a happy bunny. Probably quite easy to guess what it is from this pic, but I’m going to be annoying anywayand not show it until I can take some nice photos of it
Nice morning at
#80MM
. Always wanted to see a white 288 GTO every since I got a Hot Wheels one when I was about eight, so very glad to have finally caught it. Had to jet off early today annoyingly, but can’t wait to be back for the whole thing tomorrow
With nearly 1000 miles covered in two days, that’s my mini Welsh adventure done. Cannot think of anything else I’d rather have been in, especially with some pretty horrific weather - what a machine. A car for very nearly every occasion…
Someone was finally brave enough to trust me with a long termer, so here’s “my” Toyota Corolla Commercial. Should be pretty much perfect for what I do - looking forward to spending the upcoming months with it
@Ed_Westby
Potentially a case of simply not having driven enough things to know better, but my money goes on the Alpina D3 S Touring. Suspect the B3 S is better in every way, but it’s got the perfect blend of space, comfort and economy with fantastic dynamic ability and ridiculous speed
Oh wow - a Lincoln Navigator (??? - Americans, please tell me if I’m wrong) very far from home. Awesome looking thing, even if it is ridiculously large
