1. Mike Bickle is an evil wolf in sheep’s clothing, and has built his empire on a throne of lies and corruption.
@ihopkc
leadership has utterly failed their responsibility before God and to the body. If you’re still there, get out.
10. FWIW: Jane Doe is a dear friend. We have believed her since she told us her story. I went to Stuart Greaves with info I had heard about Mike Bickle back in May, and I was gaslit. My silence on social was not because of cowardice or loyalty to MB.
6. He used prophecy and eschatology to manipulate thousands upon thousands of people to sacrifice their lives on the altar of his vision. Many lived in poverty and laid down their lives for a cause they thought was inspired by God.
4. He let the people and ministry he professed to cherish BURN while he tried to cover what was already in the light. He turned friends and family on one another, and refused to confess and repent. He threatened people. He let his goons spread propaganda.
3. Mike is a false prophet and a charlatan. He treated the body of Christ as useful, and the bodies of women as vice. Better for a millstone to have been tied around his neck… let the reader understand.
He built his brand around the idea of a bridal paradigm, and professed commitment to purity in the body of Christ all while violating his marriage covenant and destroying the lives of those whose flesh he feasted upon.
7. He required his followers to sign a purity covenant, and a sacred trust. Purity? Covenant? Secret? Trust? He possessed, exercised, and protected none of these. They were useful to him.
Some people in my sphere of life know that I used to be at Ihop (I left in 2011), and I still have a lot of friends connected there. This is not an attack against my friends or innocent people. But it is a direct assault on wolves in sheep‘s clothing.
8. Thankfully, I am not the judge, jury, or executioner of any court. I am a sinner in need of grace and mercy, and I say all of this knowing I will be held to account for my words. But it’s clear he is a deceiver and predator who’s unwilling to repent. So…
2. This is not a new opinion of mine based on the latest article. I have felt this way for quite some time. I have chosen to abstain from public discourse for a number of reasons. I’m not going to bore you with explanations, but enough is enough…
11. I rarely use Twitter, and I will probably delete it from my phone after this. I don’t imagine that this post will make a difference in the grand scheme of things, nor I don’t think my opinion is important. BUT…
@EricVolz
@ihopkc
Common ground? What common ground is there but justice? There is no happy middle ground of compromise here. Quit spinning this vile rubbish, & quit co-opting prayer to garner sympathy from people. The only prayers of value now are ones of repentance AFTER confession.
One thing that God seems to be fulfilling from Mike’s claims: “I will change the understanding and expression of Christianity in one generation.” I actually see with this one as true. The man-made, synthetic refuse that we have created in the name of Jesus is being burned away.
Let’s start with visitations from the angel Gabriel, the Archangel Michael, and trips to heaven. Since photographic proof of Jane Doe’s abuse was so important to IHOP leaders, it’s reasonable to ask for the same kind of evidence for the things Mike built his empire around.
“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit. You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”
— JESUS
1 (of 5). Loyalty in any relationship can only work if the loyalty given from each party is received and returned with equal or greater loyalty.
Thread continued in comments…
4. If leaders refuse to be transparent, they make a mockery of the loyalty that has been given, and they reveal the possibility that their highest concern may not for the well-being of the sheep, but for the flock’s usefulness to the mission.
5. A healthy flock gives trust freely. A bad shepherd earns the flock’s mistrust through deceit. Asking those who have sacrificed their time, talent, and finances on the altar of this “movement” to trust the very leaders who have been disloyal to them is deluded.
@gabriel_hancock
“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit. You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”
— JESUS
That we suffer is a fact. Why we suffer is a mystery. That we don’t suffer more is a blessing. That Jesus embraced suffering to the utmost is a scandal. That God is working through it all is grace.
3. When leaders of those communities betray or abuse the sheep they have been charged to protect, they must humbly submit themselves to biblical accountability.
1. Staying committed to something for the right reasons is the same as quitting something for the right reasons. Both choices require wisdom and integrity to follow through on. (Continued in comments…)
No “good” that’s come out of Mike’s ministry atones for his criminal & morally insidious behavior. These were/are our CHILDREN. Why would anyone be willing to sacrifice their innocence on the altar of a “good” cause? God literally destroyed nations in the OT over stuff like this.
6 (Last Point). Worse still: refusing to lay down your life when the stakes are highest and shepherd the Church the way Jesus commands does, bears false witness of Christ’s nature Kingdom.
@stephenvenable
@CantorTran
I really appreciate your humility here, Stephen. I know for some, an apology like this will not be enough to heal the pain they feel related to a hundred different things, but it’s a beautiful witness of the heart of Christ to embrace it and be open to hearing people.
2. You cannot demand the perpetual loyalty of others if you are unwilling to return that loyalty in kind. Many ministries are built on the loyalty of volunteers who have sacrificed their lives in service of a cause they believed was God-breathed.
@ihopkc
What is wrong with you? Shame on you for going about business as usual. Lament. Repent. Shut it down. This tree has produced evil fruit. Whitewashed tombs.
@ahailstone
I’m sorry, Andy. Above all I’m gutted for JD, for Tammy, for the victims who are yet to come forward, and then some. But I’m also sad for the good people who have been swindled and used up by a crooked, predatory false shepherd.
3. Refusing to participate in something you are clearly not in alignment with is not a sign of betrayal or failure. It is a testament to your willingness to make difficult decisions, even when they cost you something.
@ihopkc
Partial truths are still lies, and God does not look kindly upon shepherds who deceive. Even if this partial confession was ALL there was, it is enough. Mike has been disqualified from ministry for decades. Period.
@RichFMatt
Also, arguing that you should stay silent in the face of ALL accusation just because Jesus did is a HUGE red flag. Jesus was accomplishing the work of the cross, and was silent as to bring about that purpose. Mike twists the Word. Demonic.
@isierranichole
2. As I’ve wrestled through all of this for the past 13 years, I’ve become confident of this: God is good and Jesus is true, no matter how badly ambitious people corrupt that reality and use it for gain. Don’t give up hope. His kindness is exposing our corruption.
@leemcummings
Misleading partial confessions are just part of the game leaders like this play. Instead of repenting and taking ownership of his sin, he's trying to minimize his disqualifying actions so he can keep his influence and platform. Disgusting.
@DarciFletcher
I‘be had many disagreements with Mike/Ihop’s teaching for +/-10 years. A lot of it was openhanded stuff, some of it was more concerning. But over the last several months, I’ve become certain that he is a wolf in sheep’s clothing and a deceiver.
2. When you initially commit to something for the right reasons, but later refuse to move on when what you are committed to becomes antithetical to your foundational convictions, you are no longer committed for the right reasons.
@BVictor6622
It’s a fool’s errand to play the “woulda, shoulda, coulda” game with ourselves. Our stories are complex & it can be challenging to navigate. I don’t condemn anyone for having been deceived by Mike. But when information changes, commitments must also change. Lord help us all.
@ChipotleTweets
Almost 16 years ago my ex-girlfriend wanted to talk. She bought me a double meat barbacoa burrito and told me she wanted to get back together. We’ve now been married for nearly 15 years and have 4 kids. You did that,
@ChipotleTweets
. You’ve always been there for me👊🏼
4 (final point): And shouldn’t the most important decisions in life cost us something? If there’s no cost to the most important decisions we make, the consequences of those decisions hold no value.
Autonomy without accountability is just power masquerading as righteous authority. Influence without responsibility or consequence always leads to corruption.
@riper_van1739
@ihopkc
I am not their spokes person, so if you have questions, you’ll have to ask her yourself. I realize people feel entitled to public transparency from anyone associated with leadership there, but I can’t speak to things I was not a part of.
@ChadNichols_
I hear you. You can only judge a tree by its fruit. The fruit of Mike’s ministry has ripened and has been harvested. It is rotten, and if the fruit is rotten, the root system is rotten.
@riper_van1739
@ihopkc
I had the luxury of leaving IHOP for the right reasons at the right time over 13 years ago. There are many who today find themselves in an involuntary state of chaos that they don’t deserve and didn’t choose. I get it. This is beyond hard.
@isierranichole
1. I’m sorry, sierra. IDK about you, but growing up in the church culture I did, I naïvely believed that everything we did was the culmination of 2K years of church history. WE FIGURED IT OUT. Didn’t know I was participating in a corrupt man-made system…
@SamMcDowell11
No one faults you for asking for a raise, Chris. But you're under contract and you're not showing up. That's the epitome of letting your team down. You're almost 30, and the Chiefs have offered you a massive deal already. Whoever is in your ear sucks.

@jude22_23

@ihopkc
I understand the critique, & I have no problem being criticized. But to me, it’s a bit unfair to assume I was doing nothing/was silent just because I wasn’t engaged on X. It’s illogical to judge the size of an iceberg based on surface visibility. It is what it is at this point.
@SilentStringM
God is putting his finger on “professional ministry” and empire building. There is only one leader that matters in the Church: Jesus. He must increase, we must decrease.
@riper_van1739
@ihopkc
And I don’t feel the need to explain myself, but I think it’s fair to provide a little context: I work full-time, we don’t solicit donations or volunteers, and we have a very small and simple church. There is no motive other than to faithfully preach the gospel and serve people.
@riper_van1739
@ihopkc
I’m not interested in recruiting members/building anything. But I AM interested in helping people. If you know anyone who needs to process without strings attached, feel free to send them my way. I don’t care if they come to our services or not.
@PlumblineFaith
There are many answers to this question, but one sad reality we seem to forget: we are already a part of the greatest spiritual movement in history: Jesus Christ. Who needs a lesser sub-movement???
@niles7704
No. I don’t feel good about any of this. But I DO feel overwhelmed with zeal to be a voice of clarity for those still under the spell of a master manipulator and family-destroyer.
@riper_van1739
@ihopkc
Correct… You don’t know me. I would welcome anyone who does know me to speak honestly about me. I’m not sure what you’re suspicious of, but I’m afraid I can’t answer unwarranted suspicions.
@riper_van1739
@ihopkc
I definitely understand. I think isolation is an enemy in the long run, but I absolutely understand what exposed nerve endings feel like. This is a remarkably complex and painful thing to navigate. Not everyone will respond the same way. It requires patience and wisdom.
@riper_van1739
@ihopkc
Bottom line: I didn’t plant a church because of was happening at Ihop. The timing was legitimately coincidental. I would NOT have chosen for it to go down like this, but when has life ever gone the way any of us thought it would?
@EricVolz
@ChristinaForet
@EricVolz
you’re a snake and a charlatan. I’m sure you think the purse you hauled from
@ihopkc
was worth it, but you’ll answer for your deception and evil one day. “Many will say to me, Lord Lord… I will say I never knew you. Depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.” —JESUS
@PaulCainsFlask
Extra biblical theology for sure. This is way too broad of a topic to cover here, but I have thoughts. I might process them at some point, but it’s a giant onion, and peeling it would take forever. I’ve cried enough tear this week 😂
@BenHoogterp
Prophecy is true or false. Mike created a system where it was OK to be wrong. In the Old Testament, you were stoned for being wrong. I’m not saying there’s not grace when we miss the mark, but there is no fear of the Lord when you look at the track record.
@joshjrainwater
@jude22_23
@riper_van1739
@ihopkc
I’m not the story either way, & I’m not trying to die on a hill here. Be critical of me, don’t be, whatever… bottom line: we agree on the issues. Just consider this: just because you don’t know the reason behind something doesn’t mean there isn’t a reasonable one.
@BenHoogterp
I was born & raised in charismatic prophetic culture. I’m not a secessionist. I believe God still speaks with all my heart. And I think lord of people like me were preyed upon by Mike Bickle. He knew their desire would outweigh their discernment if he promised the right things.

@jude22_23
not sure who you are, Jude, but it might be helpful to know that you’re posting videos of my dad… not me. If there’s something you need to ask me feel free to reach out, but assuming I’m someone else isn’t helpful.
@zhuangcorp
@DarciFletcher
TBH, I don’t have the mental or emotional energy to get into details right now. I have had issues with aspects of everything from theology to ecclesiology to missiology and culture for a long time. Just reverse engineer IHOPKC’s fruit and you can deduce.
