I once guest lectured the advanced "math extension" for 10 year olds at a local school. Once we finished the curriculum about 6 months early, I was given free reign. We did basic electronics, understanding datasheets, algebra and some programming. They were more than capable

I literally gave an 11 yr old kid a college set theory textbook and he's making decent progress, 1.5 sections in two days, like he is smart, but like I think with a little guidance kids can be pushed _way_ harder than they are in school

Imagine the acceleration the world would see if we all donated a lunchtime once a week to youth.

As some of you know, I’ve been advocating the idea that aging in humans—not mice—is driven by accumulation of long-lived forms of molecular damage. If this is the case, then to understand damage suppression, and possibly even age reversal, we need to look around at species with

Chomsky argued that LLMs learned impossible languages as well as possible ones & thus couldn’t tell us useful things about language. Nope: “Our core finding is that GPT-2 struggles to learn impossible languages when compared to English as a control, challenging the core claim.”

@elder_plinius I want to see how long it takes to develop AI from scratch. Create me a universe in which there exists the possibility of consciousness just like ours, and see how long it takes to create a text-to-universe generator. When they do, restart the simulation.

Markets are limited by supply of consumers. AI, once autonomous (economically), yields an infinite supply of consumers.

@orakwejohn Yeah agree with the thesis - AI purchasing agents will be the stepping stone towards AI's being consumers. Once AI's can open their own bank accounts, we're in hyper-abundance endgame!

1/ I recently finished digging into a body of work around extracted tacit mental models of business expertise, and it is wild. It turns out that business experts all share a common mental model of business, and you can do all sorts of interesting things if you have that model.
