Yesterday, I tweeted that the mask mandate on US airplane flights should not end on April 18th. Here is why. I measured CO2 on airplane flights. On boarding and exiting CO2 levels are 2,200 to 2,400ppm. This means 4-5% of the air you breathe comes from somebody else’s lungs.

An interesting fact about the 1918 Pandemic is that they did not know the flu came from a virus. That was not "discovered" until 1931. But they observed the disease did not spread as rapidly when people were masked and buildings had good ventilation. The virus is airborne!
There is a great book on the 1918 pandemic called ”The Great Influenza” by John Barry. Chicago did better than most cities. But much of the response in the US in 1918 was just like the last three years. Unfortunately, we did know history and we were destined to repeat it.

Filters will do a great job of reducing the particles from wildfire smoke - but you have to use the right filters. The old MERV 8 (mechanical) do not work on <1um particles. Go with MERV 13 for best results. Here are the tests:
