@DonEford There’s also an increased risk of stillborns. Sadly, I know a mom who delivered a stillborn at 38 weeks-so cruel. The mom was vaxxed but there was a virus exposure. Expectant moms are going to baby showers unmasked. That bothers me now that I know what can happen.

@NjbBari3 @JohnSnowProject Someone on Twitter referred to this as “ The Quiet Period,” as in the past 2 years-no press conferences or guidance for the masses. Some also say the masses don’t care but I think that’s half true. They’d care if they had been given more clearly understood info.

@JeromeAdamsMD I wore a mask to fly in 2019 because when we returned from an international trip, I was having surgery. I wear a mask now because an N95 has worked for me and others & after seeing CO2 readings of air travelers, I’ll never fly without one. One of my favorite cocktail napkins.

@AlisaValdesRod1 Good luck! There’s a human behavior aspect to this, too. Are they masking in elevators, restrooms, when socializing at lunch? There’s a hole most of the time. I know that there’s exceptions too, though. Can you bring a HEPA or CR box?

Parents need to join the fight and join with teachers, demanding it to lower viral loads in classrooms. It’s getting harder to be heard as mitigations are being dropped so we need lots of help! Now with social media, it should be a required hs or certainly college class to help people learn to be less gullible, see the harm in it and learn to recognize reliable sources.

@JeromeAdamsMD They wore masks while watching a presentation close together ( seen in a pic), had HEPAS running and it seemed windows open as a woman & a man pictured were in wool coats. The masks and the windows opened can be done by anyone. They took PCRs and the HEPAS aren’t as easy for all

@crippastor @joaquinlife @CDCgov I was reading Dr Walensky’s wiki bio. She said that she’s been “ crystal clear” on masks but so many aren’t wearing them or following basic mitigations. I agree about the 2nd part but I think that her messaging hasn’t been crystal clear. She told people to put them in a drawer.

I know a healthy 60 locally who still has 2 pox on her face since late Nov. Having had them, she’s at risk again but can’t get the vaccines until hers all go away.

Masks ( and kinds differentiated from the outset even with a shortage of good ones) should have been presented as part of good public health policy from the beginning. @DrJRubenstein A friend’s DIL gave birth to a perfectly formed 38 wk stillborn. All genetics were normal so it was a virus but mom to be was never sick during pregnancy. Another mom gave birth to a newborn with biliary atresia. She had Covid during first trimester. Are OB/GYN drs warning them?

@Zxander3K @MarkWar16520311 I was a nurse, tracked medical data for research.The hygiene hypothesis has been debunked & it only applied to some bacteria, some times-never to viruses. A cold is a mild virus but not always to an 80 yo. That’s why flu can be deadly-aging immune systems can’t fight it as well.

She’s healthy but her immune system is still 65. All vaccines stimulate your immune system-a good thing & all viruses tax your immune system-not good.

@drseanmullen Me too. I wore one in 2019 to fly before a surgery the following month that I didn’t want postponed. It’s not a hard thing to do. I think more would do it if more wore masks. People tend to follow the crowd in diff situations.

@danaparish @CDCgov @CDCDirector Can he go to a hospital with a residency program? Ours wear masks as does my DDS and hygienists with HEPA air purifiers in each room. They’re in oral cavities for goodness sake. Many used to mask or wear a shield to prevent debris from getting into their faces. SMH.

I agree that anyone working in healthcare should be vaxxed and masked.A friend’s elderly mom went to an ALF to recuperate from a surgery. She and a few other patients were infected by their same caregiver. This is basic decency!
