BC authorities are trying to rewrite history by claiming that BC schools were magically safe during the #COVID19 pandemic year. There are a lot of holes in their claims. Here to set the record straight-a thread for #bced, class of 20-21. @JM_Whiteside @jjhorgan @DrBonnieHenry

2/ Christy Clark was a disaster in B.C. Her leadership was so damaging that the B.C. Liberals changed their name to B.C. United to try to rebrand themselves (didn’t work) & still have a hard time distancing themselves from her negative legacy. Canada, AVOID her politics! See:

Christy Clark as Federal Liberal leader??😬 She illegally ripped up teacher’s contracts, resulting in 15 yrs of fewer services for kids. Her gov’t siphoned $$ from ICBC, allowed money laundering, & was involved in the “triple delete” email scandal. Avoid!

@DrFiliatrault Excellent question!! Answer: they know from UK data that they’ll find many more cases than their incorrect predictions of “mild in children” would account for. Canadian public health is guilty of downplaying long term harms in kids. Mainly because of capitalist greed. 😢

@moss_sphagnum @DrFiliatrault It’s so sad, how everyone in the education & healthcare systems were let down by public health. The precautionary principle should’ve prevailed but it was tossed aside for Dr. B Henry’s core beliefs in droplet theory. No room for possible (& then confirmed) airborne transmission.

@KateLaing15 I’m sorry to hear that.😢 The medical system is failing Canadian kids, all because of public health egos that refuse to admit fault, so PH won’t inform physicians that: 1) #LongCovidKids is real 2) there are mounting evidence & studies proving it 3) they need to look out for it.

@lorianebird @DrToddLee @nickmmark @NEJM @CDCofBC It’s terrible that several provinces limit Paxlovid to this extent, although BC has been one of the worst in Canada for limiting it, stating “interactions w/ other medications” as the reason, despite others finding solutions to that. Deeper dive & actual documentation here:

While other provinces expanded their Paxlovid criteria to save lives, BC's May 2023 Paxlovid guidelines remain the most restrictive in Canada with no change to the age restriction of 70 for vaccinated, non-immunocompromised and non-indigenous people. 1/11

@DrToddLee @nickmmark @NEJM Not a surprise, considering the B.C. teen’s #H5N1 case is managed by @CDCofBC. @CDCofBC is notorious for withholding treatments for various reasons. For example: Paxlovid access is severely restricted in BC, more than other provinces. See article:
