Parallelized EVMs will change protocol design.
If you’re a smart contract developer building on ETH mainnet, your entire protocol design revolves around reducing storage costs and pushing anything you can off-chain. When gas costs are high, writing just 1 int to storage can cost
How will existing EVM users benefit from SeiV2’s parallel EVM?
SeiV2’s EVM will be fully EVM bytecode compatible. This means all the same Solidity contracts deployed on other EVMs can be deployed as-is to SeiV2’s EVM and get a massive boost in speed and cost of execution.
One of the coolest talks I've seen in a while--On-chain Solving by

- fully on-chain statistical arb - you can inject Binance prices into a tx and have it trade based on those prices to basically do a form of stat
The First high performance Parallelized EVM Chain has hit a major milestone.
Sei’s permissionless Public Devnet has been upgraded to v2 and is now live for developers to begin their deployments.
It’s time to go even further beyond🔴
SeiV2: EVM 🤝 CosmWasm
SeiV2 will allow EVM and CosmWasm contracts to communicate through a precompile. This allows you to wrap any CW20 token in an ERC20 and vice versa, which means no liquidity fragmentation! All the existing liquidity on SeiV1 CosmWasm side will be available
Want to check out the code for SeiV2’s parallelized EVM but don’t know where to start?
The code for SeiV2 is all open source. However, it can be hard to dig through an unfamiliar code base to find the part you’re interested in.
Will be highlighting some interesting sections
Reminder: Sei's blazing fast public devnet with full EVM Compatibility and 390 ms block times has been live for 1 month. If you want to try an incredibly fast chain with very low fees and super high throughput before it goes live on mainnet, now is your chance!

👉 Sei v2 public devnet marks a significant milestone in blockchain technology as the first high performance, parallelized Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) blockchain.

100%.
With what I have been able to see/witness, this is just the beginning. SEI can be a game-changer for how L1s work in the next few years.
p.s. we have deployed
@gamblino_app
to sei internal devnet and even that experience was super-blazing fast! 🌬️
despite only gaining major traction in the last week, $SEI already has the 2nd highest share of on-chain tx’s.

BREAKING: Sydney Sweeney reveals in an interview with Vogue that Sei is her favorite L1 blockchain.
“I like, really got excited about Sei when I learned that Sei v2 is the first parallelized EVM, allowing Sei to get the best of Solana and Ethereum through a hyper optimized
An official deployment of uniswap v3 on sei would be fantastic to see. It is humbling to see how far the Sei eco has grown from mainnet launch just 7 months ago to now attracting interest from one of the true OG defi protocols on Ethereum.

Parallelizing the EVM does not stop with launching Sei v2. It’s time to think even bigger.
As part of Sei Labs' mission to scale the EVM, it is creating an open sourced framework for maximally performant, parallelized L2 chains.
Introducing: the Parallel Stack.

I lost a good amount of respect for you
@chamath
. You don't practice what you preach. If you needed the money you invested in $SPCE, you shouldn't have invested it in the first place.
At Sei, we parallelize everything – even meals! 🥯🍔
Join us at ETH Denver for a Parallel Brunch, where we're mixing breakfast and lunch in true Sei style. An excellent chance to network and discuss with fellow Seiyans.

While I have massive respect for the builders of the modular future of crypto, imho there are several fundamental issues of a shared data availability layer and multiple execution clients publishing to that DA layer. 🧵

The proof is in the numbers. Maybe you can see when we moved to SeiDB on this node.
Less waste.
Faster writes.
Faster execution.
Faster block processing.
A ton more of everything else.
Today, almost all the EVM chains try really hard to stick very close to vanilla go-ethereum. Really looking forward to seeing more experimentation on the VM layer. Can see things on the horizon like:
- parallelism within a tx
- WASM controlling EVM state
- new opcodes, new
@sgoldfed
I don't think ppl are saying L2s don't count. They're saying it's still not good enough and not improving quickly enough. A swap on Arbitrum costs ~$.40 rn and even with proto-danksharding it'll cost over $.04, which is still too high. Not to mention L2s also have a ceiling on
Seems like Jito's decision to suspend their Block Engine service was because it was allowing MEV searchers to sandwich trades. Without Jito's mempool function, it makes it much harder to do frontrunning/sandwiching.
It seems like everyone agrees that Jito simply backing out
Foundry is such an amazing testing framework. However, one downside of Foundry is that everything is single threaded. Would be sick to have a primitive to do some asynchronous/parallelism. Otherwise you can't do things like subscribe to events and process/react to them. This

Imagine if Stephen Hawking could communicate faster than a speed typist or auctioneer. That is the goal.
At this point, the Sei Parallel Brunch may be the most hyped event at ETH Denver.
Waitlist is currently 10x oversubscribed with registrations accelerating each day as we get closer 👀. Probably nothing…
Shadow Events and Shadow Forks are a super cool concept. Allows you to easily make off-chain, gas-less events that can be tracked on a long-running fork. Should be a game changer for anyone trying to do on-chain custom analytics. It seems much much easier to do than writing

Interesting how incentivizing L2s to move to shared sequencing and become based rollups on ETH L1 hinges on fees generated from MEV going down a lot. Seems like a bit of a gamble to say this will happen in the short term. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
@nickyBLUeyes
This is discussed in the episode:
1) shared sequencing increases execution fees—more fees, not less
2) rollups don't want to extract MEV at the expense of users—Arbitrum and Optimism sequencers protect against sandwiching; users want MEV protection
3) MEV will go down
We are ringing in this holiday season with a new market! 🎁
Trade SEI-perps with up to 10x leverage on Drift, the fastest DEX on Solana
Which market do you want to see listed next?
Let's talk about parallelization, specifically Optimistic Parallelization. This is a fundamental concept initially created in database management that dates all the way back to 1979 🤯
Pro tip for reducing taxes: consider using HIFO (Highest Cost Basis) instead of FIFO (First in first out). Did this on
@koinly
and it dropped my capital gains by a lottttttt.
inscriptions make sense on a utxo-based blockchain like BTC where each satoshi is unique (and therefore not truly fungible) and where you can inscribe data on each satoshi. BTC has such limited functionality that an inscription is the best you can do. I feel like it doesn't
It's kinda interesting how ipfs is supposed to be decentralized storage but ppl still aren't happy when the nft data is stored there and not on-chain. Does this mean the golden standard for data storage is on-chain?
Solana to target 120 ms block times 🤯. Solana development moves very fast and that is a huge advantage they have over the ETH community, who are mostly bound by EF's slow development pace. However, Sei and Monad's L1 EVMs will give Solana a run for their money.
My hopes for 2024:
* incremental improvements to labs solana client implementation
* 50/50 odds of fire dancer full mainnet out by breakpoint
* after fd is on mainnet protocol governance starts activating: state compression, write lock ema fees, abi v2
* work on stateless
@aeyakovenko
proposing the concept of charging a fee to acquire a write lock on an account as well as a fee calculation mechanism to reduce/increase cost of failed txs. It's cool that solana controls their own virtual machine, so they can more easily make changes to the gas model
Introducing Light: a new approach to tackle EVM UX fragmentation.
Light enables users to seamlessly interact with any EVM chain (including L2, L3s) as if you're using one single network.
The goal is to make using Ethereum a smooth experience everywhere.
2024 will be the year of the parallel evm - rooting for everyone working on this problem incl. monad/sei/polygon and other teams that I forget.
also excited for our own internal efforts there and pushing the boundaries on database design
