I spoke out against the work environment at TIFF in 2016 after I quit, but others feared putting their name to criticism. I felt comfortable going on record because I wasn’t looking for another job in the sector. But everyone talked about blacklisting.

A lesson I’ve internalized after watching so many good things end. They mattered.
Lots of things ending this year. But keep in mind, all of those things began because of people working hard to make something. And there’s a lot more people now who benefited from those experiences and have the knowledge and capacity to start something new.
