Each year on Remembrance Sunday, we assemble at the Cenotaph to honour the sacrifice of the fallen and pay tribute to the servicemen & women we place in harm’s way.
Today - as every day - we will remember them.

Find it weird that TfL are using Ash to promote a career with them, when she literally started her time on the show by crying that she couldn’t afford to live, and was 45 still living in an HMO
Great suggestion someone just sent me for Starmer’s Labour (which they’ll never do) — keep Lord Cameron on as Foreign Sec.
Think about it in context of US and shared instincts on foreign policy and it’s not that absurd.
Met with UK Labour Party leader

before departing Munich. As our countries continue to work on our shared priorities and address today’s global challenges, our special relationship is as important now as ever.
It’s weird to think that Yvette Cooper and Ted Heath were MPs at the same time. Like, he was at Normandy and she has a Twitter account but there they were
Too many people have gone from “boycotting Eurovision is the bare minimum” to thinking they’re the second coming of Martin Luther King. Watch it, don’t watch it, but I don’t think it’s meaningful activism
David Axelrod advised Ed Miliband and said the UK was the toughest media environment he’d ever worked in. Jim Messina worked for Theresa May and told her on election-eve she was going to win 400 seats. You can’t just drop a billion dollars on an election here
it is unbelievable how bad these people are at politics. a middling Chicago alderman could enter British politics with a staff led by David Sirota and end up crowned Lord Protector within nine months.
We live in an era of disinformation and fake news, but our discerning media will protect... oh wait, they’ve been tricked by a fake Twitter account pretending to be Woolworths.
Neither are TV debates the ultimate form of scrutiny.
Clever asides, memorable attack lines and smooth talking may be the trademarks of winning debaters - they aren’t necessarily the sign of a good PM or leader.
I’d much, much rather see candidates face eg

The only good thing Boris Johnson did as Prime Minister was give unconditional support to Ukraine, and now he’s backing someone who’d let tanks roll into Kyiv

They don’t. His body is now in a gruesome condition and he has been robbed of all dignity. The organisations that have preyed on his family and given them false hope are disgusting

Here’s some food for thought. Excluding POSTAL VOTES, I easily won the count in Birmingham Yardley.
This isn’t speculation, we saw it with our own eyes.
Here’s an article from 2005 regarding the Labour Party’s record on postal voting in Birmingham:
@finnhambly
Possibly!! He’s only been commentating on politics for the last thirty years so I guess it’s unreasonable to expect him to know what he’s talking about 🤷♂️
Finishing Hillary Clinton’s book and seeing the Angela Rayner article. Disgusting that misogyny is still such a potent force in politics. Awed by every woman who puts themself forward despite the poisonous cruelty they’ll face.
That “huh?!” 11 seconds in is maddening. Starmer hasn’t played a role in the criminal justice system for 11 years; Sunak starved it of funding as Chancellor, and hasn’t prioritised fixing it as Prime Minister.
“Who is more responsible for the criminal justice system, a man who has been PM for six months, or a man who literally used to be the Director of Public Prosecutions?”

Proud to be the first MP to wear a poppy this year in the House of Commons.... it’s never too early to show support for this vital campaign to thank those who have served King, Queen, Country and Commonwealth, as we begin our annual period of national remembrance.🇬🇧
Lol, what has happened to the New Statesman?? Used be a subscriber and listen to every episode of the podcast. I think it benefitted from being synonymous in my mind with Stephen Bush, Ailbhe Rea and Anoosh Chakelian. Hid a lot of the rot
Two years ago Putin invaded Ukraine and has perpetrated an appalling war.
We must remain steadfast and do all we can do back Ukraine. If Putin is not defeated he will threaten more countries.
Russia must lose.
@ItsMatt_Again
Oracy isn’t about speaking posh though - it’s about making sure children in EYFS speak in full sentences and about being fluent and confident, which you can be in any accent. The problem with this policy is that it’s something almost every primary school already does
After Johnson resigns, there will be six living former Prime Ministers for the first time ever. America has had six living ex-Presidents a few times, which is odd seeing as we usually go through leaders faster.
24 hours after “pride is a waste of money”. Our politicians and media have normalised and emboldened bigotry, and LGBTQ+ people are less safe in this country because of it

British cabinet ministers are privately urging the Democrats to ditch Joe Biden as their candidate after his stilted debate.
Below are comments to me today from 3 people round Rishi Sunak’s top table. It’s very rare to get this fierce criticism of a US president.
My youngest brother just turned 14, and has been on a CAMHS waiting list since he was 11. It’s unforgivable and the impact will affect the trajectory of the rest of his life
It's both amusing/alarming the extraordinary lengths people will go to play dirty tricks.
3 things happened today that show why the public are put off politics:
1) Apparently, a leadership campaign has sent a "dirty dossier" of “strong comments” from 20 yrs ago to the
@thhamilton
I’ve never been able to find it (maybe I dreamt it) but years ago a poll came out showing the Conservatives a couple of points behind and somebody in the replies asked “was this before or after Liz Truss’s Policy Exchange speech?”
Imagine having Matt Hancock as your MP for a decade, thinking you might finally be about to get some non-goofy representation, and Nick Timothy walks through the door
🔵WEST SUFFOLK: local Tories pick successor to Matt Hancock on Sunday. I hear 6-strong long-list includes:
Neil Hudson, Penrith & Border MP, who lost contest
as current seat merged;
Richard Rout, dep leader, Suffolk County Council;
Nick Timothy, fmr adviser to Theresa May.
What’s truly pathetic is giving the Conservatives a free pass on the last thirteen years just because they keep changing leader every five minutes. This isn’t a new government
Not that I get all my validation and self worth from nine year olds (I do), but my class said today that I’m “the best at comebacks” and wow, what a rush
Boris Johnson now squats like a giant toad across British politics. He has expanded the Overton window in both directions. Praising bankers and drug companies, while tight on immigration and woke history. Cheered for lauding the NHS and pro LGBT. Where does Labour find a gap?
We think of PM’s seats as being rock solid but Witney has gone; Maidenhead, Uxbridge and South West Norfolk could go; Sedgefield went last time; Kirkcaldy is a close seat; John Major represented the majority of North West Cambridgeshire, which has just fallen by 39 votes
You only needed a 2:1 to be accepted on to the Cambridge PGCE, and the course was undersubscribed, so I’ve never felt like it was that much of an achievement, but my next door neighbour talks about it as if I’m a Rhodes Scholar
The only person who comes out of this looking good is the teacher. The parent sounds like a nasty piece of work, it’s unbelievable that the head just told the teacher to resign, and the sooner The Sun is shut down forever the better
Always baffled by takes like this. The Tories have been in power for 70% of Keir Starmer’s adult life. If he was a right wing careerist, wouldn’t he have just… joined them
Why are you, a British political correspondent, sharing videos from the RNC? The video is… fine? He sees something off to the right, gives a thumbs up, then gets called back for a group picture.
Said to my housemates, “isn’t it weird how Cilla Black is everywhere at the moment” and they had no idea what I was talking about. A stark reminder I’m responsible for my own algorithm
Nearly 1000 words just to say “Keir Starmer looked at me from across the street”. I hold onto grudges and have never forgiven anyone in my life either, but come on
I made my mind up about Keir Starmer's character years ago. It’s an account of what felt like intimidation by a senior barrister against a pupil barrister - me.
It’s a highly personal account I share now for the first time, as Sir Keir is poised to lead Labour into government.

How GB would vote if the Mid Bedfordshire By-Election swing was repeated across the country:
LAB: 480 (+284)
LDM: 104 (+96)
CON: 20 (-356)
SNP: 23 (-25)
PLC: 3 (+1)
GRN: 1 (=)
Labour Majority: 310

The 3rd principle is that parents should be included in all decisions relating to a child's requests to socially transition.
No one loves children more than their parents and it is wrong to exclude parents from what can be a pathway to irreversible medical decisions (4/6)
Just realised that Starmer will surpass Corbyn’s tenure as leader at the end of October, which is weird because it felt like Corbyn led the party forever and I still think of Starmer as new
“Force convicts to listen to victim impact statements” - do you think the victim’s family felt better after this? You can’t force people to feel guilty for what they inflicted on you

When Peter Tapsell retired, the 2015 Parliament was the first since 1852 to contain no MPs who served alongside Churchill (William Beech was an MP from 1857-1901).
Jealous of people going to election parties, but also want to watch in total silence while eating my snacks and constantly scrolling through social media
