Respectfully, but the fact that you think you can tell within 3 months OR LESS of a sales hire whether someone is going to be successful is the problem. You can’t. Even if you can, she should have had at a minimum coaching and direct feedback that she was under performing.

How about we stop asking reporters to do these interviews. They’re worthless. We know exactly what the coach is going to say and it’s exactly what she made up when she needed to. I’d rather see an interview with a drunk random fan than the coach who will say what we already know.

3 months in Enterprise Software Sales, before the Holidays, in today's SaaS selling environment is unfair. If she were underperforming she should have known from her Manager. The fact that she didn't and the fact that it was such a short time frame is why this is not a good look.

What are you selling? What is your average sales cycle? Have you ever hired an AE who started slow and then ended up being a top performer? I have. Enterprise software sales is complicated. 3 months is not enough time to evaluate if someone will be a top performer. IMO.

Started in Aug and there was a 3 month ramp. There’s no way this was performance related. This is Cloudfare not wanting to do a RIF so they are finding “performance” ways to cut payroll. Just be honest with people and tell them what it truly is instead of hiding behind

If she was a low performer she should have known. And if they did tell her she was underperforming, HR should have said - "on Dec 12th your Manager met with you to discuss your poor performance". 3 months is not enough time, but more than that she shouldn't have been surprised.
