@Comrade_Yui You might be right about Tarantino's fear of failure. And the older I get, the less I care about a lot of his work. But the truth is Pulp Fiction's impact on film cements Tarantino's place in cinematic history (and I say while thinking Pulp Fiction's very overrated).

If this article is right -- if The Last of Us 2 embargo forbids critics from talking about the second half of the game -- journalists should stop going along with this crap. Criticism should not be muzzled by the game industry.

@__BHB__ @BaaeCiaraa The irony is that this type of thought manifests more strongly the older you get (well beyond the 20s). Can’t remember the number of times older people have said they became like their parents. Not an easy thing to avoid, as reading a book won’t change your subconscious self.

I don't like the fact that lore is so accepted as a main form of storytelling in games. Most of the time it reads like something I would see on the back of a box, with no emotional, psychological, or intellectual meaning.

Stop listening to hype and explore video-game history. Try Earthbound, Nier: Automata, Majora’s Mask, Fire Emblem Echoes, Planescape: Torment, and The Last Guardian, just as a start. Also, “AAA” is a silly marketing term. Don’t confuse it with meaning.

1. People have awful taste. 2. Elden Ring at No. 20 confirms gaming culture's love for prisoner-of-the-moment opinions. 3. The lack of universally beloved arcade games (Galaga, Pac-Man, etc.) showcases the industry's ongoing dismissal of history and pop culture.

Tom Brady is nothing compared to Michael Jordan. Jordan was more than championships. He was an artist, someone who created shots spontaneously and with a technical perfection reminiscent of master sculptors and painters. Brady is more like a surgeon, he's antiseptic, clinical.

The lack of respect for kinetic art in games is disappointing. That's why I hate the term "art games." The term implies that action isn't art--that Galaga isn't art. Very narrow minded, to say the least.
