Tested Negative. Officially ending the home isolation. Thanks to everyone who supported me during these tough times.
Kubelet is active, node is uncordoned, and ready for scheduling workloads!
The ground reality in Andhra is far more dangerous than what’s being reported in the media. Almost every household is infected with at least one critical case. VJA, RJY, VZG has tens of thousands of cases.
Apply caution when someone claims to be an expert in Kubernetes. No one is an expert in Kubernetes. They can only specialise in areas like storage, network, security, operators, scaling, and observability. The boundaries of Kubernetes are expanding constantly.
It's heart-breaking and devastating to see what my friends and extended family are going through. I am fully committed to supporting them physically, morally, and financially. For next few weeks, I am dedicating myself to this mission. I have cancelled all briefings & meetings.
I barely managed to stay focused on work last year and this year is getting worse. The only thing on mind is to minimize the damage and do whatever it takes to support friends and extended family. Everything else can wait!
I installed VMware Tanzu Application Platform (TAP) on a GKE cluster. Though the installation and configuration is long-wound, the end result is impressive. Liked the developer experience and the workflow of TAP.
Finally, OpenShift has a real competitor :)
Despite taking all precautions, I am tested COVID-19 positive earlier this week. Currently in home isolation with mild symptoms of fever and cold.
Oreo, my pet dog, is missing me the most. She is scratching the door all the time trying to get in.
I deactivated my FB account after the right-wing activists targeted me for a comment I made against government. I don't want to spend energy in responding to their arguments. This is not the time for blame game. Focus on how we can help each other than defending the ideology.
It was surreal to have
@kelseyhightower
on my show. I am blown away by his humbleness and down-to-earth approach.
We discussed many interesting aspects. Stay tuned for the full interview!
Tested positive the second time. Different but severe symptoms than the first. Unfortunately, this happens when I am still dealing with long Covid.
Third-wave is spreading much rapidly in India. Please take care.

Closing 2018 with the 5th certification of the year. GCP architect certification was long due for me. Enjoyed the testing experience which is based on case studies and real-world scenarios.
Thrilled to announce that I became a Microsoft MVP for Azure IoT. I am committed to sharing my learning and knowledge with the developer community.

LoRa is my new found love. Created a PoC running on Arduino Portenta H7 that publishes the inference of a TinyML model to The Things Network via an indoor gateway. Going to port that to AWS IoT Core for LoRaWan. Fun times!
Almost done setting up a compact professional mini studio with the best possible gear. Video is powered by Blackmagic Design, audio is based on Rode and Shure. Lighting is by Godox.
There is a deliberate attempt to create confusion around platform engineering by positioning it as the DevOps killer.
This is one of the key research themes for me this year. Expect a series of posts, reports, and videos to demystify what platform engineering is all about.
I woke up today morning with a determination to write a comprehensive guide to ML PaaS offerings. Watch this space. It will be published soon

Finally built an AI testbed with AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X with 64 CPUs, GeForce RTX 3090 with 24 GB RAM and 10496 CUDA Cores, 128 GB RAM, and 3TB NVMe. This runs Kubeflow on a single-node K8s cluster with GPU operator. Excited about the possibilities!
Glad to be a Microsoft MVP for the 2nd year in a row. I am committed to sharing my learning and best practices with customers and the community. Thank you Microsoft!

Cloud Run on
@googlecloud

@Azure
deliver the best serverless container experience. Takes < 60 sec. to access the deployed container. Fargate/EKS has too many (IAM) switches and knobs

As an ops engineer not too familiar with Git, you just need to know 6 commands - git init, git add, git commit, git status, git log, git revert - to harness the power of GitOps.
Thank you for the wishes and prayers🙏
There hasn't been much improvement in my brothers condition. But, we managed to get one of the best pulmonologist to treat him.
Oxygen supply continues to be the biggest challenge in Vijayawada.
Thrilled that my talk proposal at KubeCon 2020 Amsterdam got accepted. The session will showcase how ML/DL algorithms can be applied to implement predictive scaling of Kubernetes deployments.
The Family Man is undoubtedly the best Indian web series.
@Samanthaprabhu2
is outstanding. Fantastic direction by
@rajndk
. Production value is comparable to a high budget commercial Bollywood movie. Episode 6 stands out for nail-biting action.
#TheFamilyMan2
Exciting discovery! Cloud Run services deployed on an existing GKE cluster have access to internal services and endpoints. It means we can mix and match k8s deployments and Cloud Run services. I am working on a deep dive walkthrough to demonstrate this use case.
Vijayawada is facing a dire situation. 5 of us tried our best to secure an ICU bed with a ventilator since noon with no luck. All hospitals are full with waitlisted patients in critical condition.
As a program committee member for
@CloudNativeFdn
Forums in India, I am assigned 179 proposals to review! There are many interesting submissions making it a tough job.
Indian techies are very keen to learn Kubernetes and Cloud Native tech.
The more time I spend "meshing" microservices with
@linkerd
, the more I like it. Linkerd is much lighter and faster than Istio. It takes 50% less time than Istio to install, configure, and integrate with Kubernetes.
VMware is mentioned in the keynote of every mainstream cloud provider. A sign that it has successfully turned into a multi-cloud company. Great work by
@spoonen
and his team.
Big news today at
#OracleOpenWorld
#OOW19
!
(1) For the first time,
@Oracle
will officially support Oracle products running on

virtualized environments
(2)
@VMware
will support Oracle running VMware Workloads on Oracle Cloud
WIN/WIN for customers!
CR + CRD + Custom Controller + Ops Logic = Kubernetes Operator.
I am going to run a series of articles and tutorials to demystify the operator pattern and writing a couple of them. It's going to be fun!
Kubernetes is turning into a universal scheduler and control plane for associating any component with a set of resources. Virtual Kubelet from MSFT is an example of this use case. You can push a containerized IoT module to 1000s of edge devices via k8s.
As an IoT enthusiast, I wanted to stream the Pulse Oximeter reading to the cloud to enable smart monitoring and alerting. It took shape this weekend. As a bonus, I added LoRA support for remote monitoring of patients in ICU. Stay tuned for the tutorial and demo.
Renewed CKA and CKAD certifications with 87% and 93% score. One of the well-designed exams with live testing environment. Glad to see
@pritianka
digitally signing the certs :)
I am writing an eBook on training a TensorFlow CNN model on GPU-backed VMs in the cloud and optimizing it to run on edge powered by Google Edge TPU, NVIDIA Jetson, and Intel Movidius accelerators. It will have everything you need to run AI
@Edge

One sign of Kubernetes getting boring is clusters becoming invisible. First Fargate and now GKE Autopilot. Though the approach is different for both the end goal is the same.
Despite adding a dozen features in the recent past,
@digitalocean
still has the cleanest & clutter-free UX - something that every cloud provider wants to emulate.
I have been working on Kubeflow for a while. Finally, launching a series on getting started with Kubeflow at
@thenewstack
. It will cover everything from installation to training to model serving. Stay tuned.
While their public cloud strategy looks similar, Amazon, Microsoft, and Google have an extremely different and unique approach to edge computing. I am working on a detailed guide that compares and contrasts Azure IoT Edge, AWS IoT Greengrass, and Google Cloud IoT Edge.
Newbie k8s admins think that the "users" mentioned in the kubeconfig file are stored in etcd. In reality, there are no users and groups in k8s. They are mere attributes of a certificate which will be approved by a controller. A detailed tutorial is in works to demonstrate it.
Dapr lets microservices developers switch datastores at runtime without changing a single line of code. Think of
@daprdev
as a modern ODBC/JDBC layer for various building blocks needed by microservices. Detailed tutorial coming soon

I am building a k8s operator for controlling Philips Hue smart bulbs. The Hue Hub is managed by custom controller and each bulb is a custom resource defined by a CRD. A busybox pod becomes a digital twin for each smart bulb. kubectl get bulbs -n building1
This is a hybrid Kubernetes cluster running across AMD64 (master) and ARM32 (agents) emulating a smart building scenario. It is powered by k3s, DAPR, and KEDA for inbound and outbound communication with Azure.
Want to learn how Istio's intelligent traffic routing works? Watch out for this hands-on guide on doing blue/green deployments with Istio coming this weekend at

Glad to share that I became a Google Developer Expert for IoT and Edge. Looking forward to working on Google Cloud IoT Core, IoT Edge, and Edge TPU offerings, 2019 is going to be exciting!
ICMR changes the rules based on the current political context. They are now discouraging RT-PCR tests because the government has no stock of kits. Patients getting discharged shouldn't be tested through RT-PCR. How can someone walk out of a hospital without a negative report?
Spent the weekend exploring advanced capabilities ArgoCD, FluxCD, and
@weaveworks
GitOps Core.
ApplicationSet in ArgoCD stands out for its multi-cluster capabilities.
FluxCD is the most flexible and less opinionated.
GitOps Core is just a wrapper on Flux with UI.
GKE is undoubtedly the best managed Kubernetes service in the cloud. It sets an example on how CaaS should be delivered to customers.
Love the new templates to launch clusters.
Been struggling with an IoT/Edge demo since morning. Everything magically started to work 20 minutes before the customer call. All I need is a strong South Indian filter coffee before I jump into the call.
This single Infographic captures how PaLM 2 becomes the foundation for

The hardest thing about writing is hitting File->New and deciding the working title. Rest is easy.
I have been staring at a blank doc for 10 minutes unable to decide the title.
Coming soon - a detailed analysis & comparison of AutoML for classification based on Amazon SageMaker Autopilot, Azure AutoML, Google AutoML Tables, and IBM Watson Studio AutoAI.
Firecracker is real dope. Launched 100+ microVMs on an Ubuntu box running on VMware Fusion with Intel VT-x enabled. Figuring out how to enable virtual NIC and expose services. Detailed analysis coming soon at
