I get anywhere between 5-15 inquiries a week for freelance work since I started freelancing again about a month ago.
I've had maybe 100 inquiries come through and I landed 1.
Most of them ghost me or tell me they are hiring someone offshore because it's cheaper.

In my opinion, what makes a site convert is great copy and simple design.
You can add all sorts of cool interactions but it could make the UX worse. Instead, focus on micro-interactions. or subtle interactions like hovering effects or parallax scrolling.

Well yesterday I recieved the terrific news that my contract at Cisco was being extended. I don't know the specifics yet, but they said they did not want to lose me and they are very pleased with me and the work I've been doing.
