@agazdecki The other thing besides AI that accelerated this trend was going through a full economic cycle between 2020-2023 and seeing what happens to unsustainable VC-backed companies when markets go south.

I do think as returns to scaling LLMs plateau, investors will turn to consumer hardware as the next frontier to capture for evolution of AI. Having AI devices that consumers love/use is a great moat in a world where models across different vendors become more and more similar.
Nearly every major player is developing a wearable glasses device. While it hasn’t been confirmed, it’s likely that Jony Ive is designing glasses for OpenAI. Zuck loves his version, and is leaning in on them. Anthropic should partner with Amazon to ship a monocle for Claude.

@cremieuxrecueil Nah, that's because only base salary is reported for H1B filings whereas most of the Big Tech compensation (above the senior level) comes from equity. Average Google SWE probably gets paid around 350k or so counting equity + bonus.

Wow, I asked o1 to generate a vary large JSON file and instead of fulfilling the request and running into a word limit error later on, it explained to me why it cannot fulfill my request... This makes me feel like O1 is already self-aware and sentient at the most basic level.

Has anyone noticed @cursor_ai making more mistakes recently (with claude 3.5)? I feel like either the modal quality has degraded recently or as my codebase gets larger, cursor's effectiveness has declined.

@vercel's v0 is probably the biggest winner from the o1-preview drop. It has improved leaps and bounds compared to what it was pre-o1. Impressed that an existing, established company has pulled this off instead of a new startup.
