This article is as a result of the things I’ve seen, heard and read about cybersecurity. I believe very few people who get into cybersecurity are fully aware of what they’re getting themselves into.

Cybersecurity excites me so much and I want to make effort to talk more about it. For the longest time I was afraid to because of a lot of "what ifs" and imposter syndrome. Still trying to get past that but I'm sure this is what I want to do with my life now.
Recently completed the
@ISC2
Certified in Cybersecurity Course. It was a very interesting and easy to understand training. I look forward to my Exam in May!
Giving myself a pat on the back because I got this done despite my crazy work schedule.

This has been bothering me and I might as well go ahead and say it now. It's so hard to come across cybersecurity entry level jobs in Nigeria. I find vacancies in the US and UK very easily but it's like ultimate search when I'm searching for vacancies in Nigeria. I don't get it.
Any tips and tricks for writing the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity? Study group or something? My exam is scheduled for next month. Please help

Sha teach him your angles, with time he'll get better. Can't go through life with a bad full time photographer nau 💀🤭
@folasanwo
My parents used to do this, with all the food there my brother always preferred and mostly ate bread and butter 😭😂😂😂😂😂
Still use it to yab him
I think it's time for the cybersecurity community and industry at large to shift focus to providing entry level jobs.
It's crazy that there's so much resources and boot camps teaching and preparing us to get started in cybersecurity but there's little to no entry roles advertised
Really need to get hired asap. Please tag me to any GRC related entry-level roles or internships you see. I'm in Lagos, Nigeria but I can work remotely too. Thank you! 🤲🏾
There's a SOC Analyst position here if interested.
Candidates will not be considered if they haven’t spent at least 2 consecutive years in their current or a recent former job. Remote, based anywhere in Africa.

Now please get me correctly, I'm grateful for all the opportunities that have been provided especially the ones I've been lucky to take advantage of. But it's beginning to feel like we're hustling backwards. So many people like me are ready for our first cybersecurity jobs..
ATTENTION!!
I just published my first article; From Beauty Sales to Cybersecurity🥳
I hope you enjoy reading as much as I loved writing.

I am using a strong password today, what about you?
Creating strong passwords can be fun and easy too.
Don't forget to use different passwords across your accounts to be safe from hackers 👍🏾
Oya tell your neighbors 😁😁😃

I will be dropping some GRC resources I've used and come across later this month/as soon as I get a chance to sort them. If you are interested in GRC look out for it 😁
I received an interview request email in the first week of January! The company had announced that they had received about 1000 applications so I was pleasantly surprised to get the invite.

There's nothing like hands-on experience in any field but most especially this one. There's only so much we can learn from studying these courses. Real life scenarios show your true capabilities and strengths. Please RT and spread the word. We need entry level opportunities ASAP!
But there's really nothing out there. I might be wrong but it's looking like nepotism might have a part to play in getting these jobs because I hardly come across entry level cyber roles and I've been searching. I saw an "entry level role" yet asked for 5yrs experience? Lol
The point is for us to learn from the seasoned professionals and keep passing the knowledge down until there's no huge gap in the industry. If we continue as it is the gap will never be closed no matter how many free workshops, courses and certification exams are publicised.
That's ridiculous and I say this in the most respectful way. Most openings are looking for middle to senior level. If companies don't start making space for the freshers all these trainings to fill the gap will be a waste in the long run.
A few people who read my articles asked why I always close with “Until next time, find me where the good guys are!” I explained to them that the only thing that separates cybersecurity professionals into the good or bad category is ethics.

About two weeks ago I was invited to speak to the newest cohort of the

community about my journey as a CyberLearner and how I optimized the program. Honestly, it was an amazing time getting to listen to the journeys and expectations of the ladies.
@the_nnenna
I did something similar in 100lvl uni 😂😂😂😂
Washed my clothes, tied red rope where I spread and tied red wrapper on my waist. Blew some white powder in the air where my clothes were hung and said some "incantations". My clothes never went missing till I graduated 👍🏾
Here's how to recognize phishing attempts.
1. Check the Sender’s Address: Always verify the sender’s email address to ensure it’s legitimate. Watch for misspelled domain names or suspicious variations.

My year of ease and plenty!

All I want for my birthday this year is a Cybersecurity internship opportunity, remote or in-person(Lagos,Nigeria).

I'm hoping to document my growth in cybersecurity and life generally in words and share with the world. I'm kind of excited ☺️😊
I wish I could explain how much I appreciate this class. I've been self learning Risk management and this put things in perspective for me. I realized that I understood things I thought I didn't and I got more clarity on some things too.

My grandma has been saving money for her burial for over 10 years now. She says she wants to reduce the burden and not inconvenience her children when the time comes. She'll be 86 this year 🥰😊
My mom called me to gist me how my grandma withdraw all the money in her account and gave to her cos she said she thought she’ll die on Wednesday 😭😭
Anyway, today is Saturday and she’s still alive and she wants her money back 💀
Got an amazing opportunity to showcase myself as a cybersecurity analyst and the best part is I was also able to put someone who has recently been helpful in my journey on too 😁😁
Seeing tweets from the new

It's important to start saying what you want early. It'll give your parents enough time to let the disappoint settle and also let their circle know nothing for them 😂😂💀
I hope my story serves as an inspiration to you. So, the next time life presents you with a setback, remember that each new beginning is an opportunity to write a more determined and triumphant chapter in your own story of success.

Friends come to me with their problems and when it's my turn to need a shoulder to lean/cry on, I only have God to go to. Thank God for God at least
My aunt in USA is using racist slurs on me lmao, imagine a full blooded igbo woman from Nigeria calling me a black monkey because I refused to send crochet outfits for FREE, she must think she owns USA cuz she's a citizen because she said she'll deny me entry if I ever plan to go

This thing has become ridiculously rampant. I literally wrote about it a while ago and it only shows the deep rot in the ethical fabric of these organizations who take advantage of people.
I hope those who can, look into it and you get your prize.

I actually started doing this last year. I used to love listening to music when I'm cooking or cleaning but since I got busier I had to find other ways to do important things too. So I now listen to my cybersecurity podcasts during these times. It's an awesome way to multitask
Happy International Women's Day to me and all the women who have invested in me and other women one way or the other. I'm grateful to and for your presence in my life. I'm lucky to have a village of strong and powerful women both young and old looking out for me.

I keep telling people this but for some reason they don't get it. I've worked in different roles with similar duties. I always look out for the duties instead of roles as it's more precise.
Happy Birthday to my amazing self.
It’s been a great year of loving myself and 1000 others. I’m grateful for the gift of life and the grace to do more for people I come across.
Happy birthday Omodesola. The salt of the World.
Star girl.
I am waiting for the right time to update my LinkedIn with the role I started this year. I am always waiting for the perfect time, there's no such thing as perfect timing so I'll rephrase to, I'm waiting for when I'm comfortable enough to post that. So maybe before August? 🤭💀😂

I see the comments and even get annoyed sometimes. Those who make such comments aren't even looking for said opportunities, they just want to be nuisances for no reason. The people who need the opportunities know you help boys/men too when the opportunity arises. Well done CS ♥️
When I listen to relationship type of conversations, I appreciate myself for the work I've done to become a better person daily. Thank you for having this conversation with us and sharing your journeys too

Day 1 -
Cybersecurity feels like a calling, I love technology, people and security. Cybersecurity is where all the things I love come together to make sense. Knowing I can make not just a difference but a great impact too
@almaasinobi
Worked extremely hard towards a promotion.I got it and before it was made official company folded and we all got laid off.I'm being owed salary.I set aside my business and learning cybersecurity to focus on my job,now I don't have a job/business/certification to fall back to 🙂
LRT
I knew I wanted to transition to cybersecurity but one of my biggest motivation was seeing someone on twitter who decided to transition at 60+yrs. It's never too late or early to start whatever you want. I'd rather try and fail than not at all.
I am not much of a texter. Especially from strangers, it gives me anxiety. So please before you send a dm, engage me on the tl for a bit. It's not by greeting 70 times.
If it's about cybersecurity, ask on the tl, whatever info I have for you will benefit others too. Thank you.
I just volunteered for a cybersecurity awareness campaign 😁
The plan entering the year was to put myself out there and leave my comfort zone, me that is crazy shy 😂😂🤭
I have so many ideas, I'm quite excited at the moment not sure about later tho 💀
