All aid is tied and their grant component is usually less than 1%. Beyond the obvious loss of goodwill, the most damaging impact of the dismantling of USAID will be domestic - the suppliers of products and services that make up the aid. Eg $2 billion in American farm products
BREAKING: USAID employees have just been told via email that “all direct hire personnel will be placed on administrative leave globally, with the exception of designated personnel responsible for mission-critical functions, core leadership and specially designated programs" on Friday, February 7. Already, some USAID employees’ email and systems access have been abruptly cut off, making it harder to get official information about what might happen next. “Everybody is rightfully very concerned for our overseas staff that are essentially just being left stranded,” a current USAID employee in the US told WIRED. “We're not sure how we're going to get them home safe.”

“It was Rwanda, it was Paul Kagame who killed our soldiers, the support he gave to M23 and M23 acting in a disrespectful manner they did to the South African soldiers” EFF President Julius Malema “I'm saying withdraw, let's regroup and retrain and if Rwanda has got anything to do with this let's go for them, cause we not going to have Rwanda dictating to us and Paul Kagame speaking to Cyril Ramaphosa the way he doing” @Julius_S_Malema
