Khidrapur today is a village in Kolhapur dist., Maharashtra, lying on the Krishna riverbank. Its main attraction is an elaborate temple, with Kōpēśvar (in today's Marathi) as the deity. What is interesting is the deity name's origin, and the village's connection to Tamil history.

#KannadaArchitecture not because we are an isolated island devoid of external influences, but rather because ours is the society/culture/land that achieved the construction of these.
Finally crossed the Gōdāvarī by land. No structure to date has left me as awestruck as the monolithic temple of Kannēśvara (now called Kailāsa) at Ellora. The fact that someone conceived this, and that that conception was passed over generations till completion, is ridiculous.
