@chadowkat internalized notions of masc/femme and dominant/submissive from heteronormativity and how those notions are congruent with their sense of self and thus desired role.

@yassnito that just means 70% of the default/regular amount of sugar that's offered; same with the "50% ice".

@pissboymcgee I'm fine with it because their content puts my spirit at ease like a meditation bowl and epsom salt bath.

@BlueRepublik my only contribution would be that, if attacking a retreating enemy were a war crime, it'd be difficult to prosecute violations: there'd be an incentive to employ a strategy of rapidly reversing direction between retreating and counterattacking, trying to bait a war crime.

@TrueSlazac it's only imperialism if it originates from the imperial core; otherwise, it's sparkling territorial conflict.

@FordFischer @nickgillespie field tests always seem to come up positive regardless of the substance being tested isn't that funny.

I mean you very likely directly helped the Taliban accomplish this goal.
The Taliban retaking Afghanistan in a matter of weeks as September 11th nears is a tragic symbol of the last decades. Our governments abandoned law to wage fruitless wars, sacrificed our most sacred rightsโand trampled the memory of those they claimed to avenge. Was it worth it?

tipping culture takes advantage of delusional waiters who do not consistently track their earnings and do not account for variance; at this point I'm just assuming the waiters objecting to $30/hr were not paying taxes on cash tips.

@omatsu_o02 @Arin_Yumi everyone has a biological sex; any two people in a marriage will both have sexes. that article's language is ambiguous as to whether any particular marriage requires two *opposite* sexes.

@nikicaga apparently it's emotional manipulation to mention things about your life and your internal emotional state that are sad โ like if a homeless person tells you a heartbreaking backstory and then asks for money, violating your boundaries โ being โจcruel ๐
๐ผ discourages trauma-dumping.

if someone's model's estimate of ฮฒ(education) is negative then something has gone seriously wrong and it should be an uphill battle to justify that result. this kind of naรฏve normality assumption only makes frequentists look silly.
Here are the published causal estimates of a year of education on earnings. Notice anything wrong? Results should be normally distributed, but they are not. Correcting for publication bias, the benefit of an additional year of schooling is 0.

the point of Pride is to challenge the idea that a human brain's disgust response is an infallible, innate source of moral intuition that prescribes the rules of society and public existence.
Unpopular opinion: Pride meant to be something for queer people to be seen and show our existence and our hard experiences against homophobia not a fucking fetish show.

if someone's argument is that the only way to curtail and reverse climate change is to overthrow capitalism, technological advancement threatens their narrative.
Scientists: It took us 40 years, but we invented miracle technologies that can save the world from the existential threat of climate change!. Eco-socialists: Oh that's all very nice, but what about the true global threat of LITHIUM MINING.

@captgouda24 it remains a novel and obscure governance structure, but I'd like to at least see more *attempts* at starting worker cooperatives in the future โ without data, we're just speculating, and in danger of simply rationalizing a status quo.

@micah_erfan i love dogs, but i can't defend pit bulls / bully XLs โ they were selectively bred to be fighting and mauling machines, and most owners are effectively "judgment proof" in the event their dog injures another person, especially a kid, bc the damages are so high.

libertarians do this thing where they repeatedly make forecasts for a hyperinflation that never comes then wonder why we don't take any of their other economic analyses seriously
@elonmusk @MarioNawfal Yes. Weโre careening towards hyperinflation.
