@ewarren
Doesn’t make sense? Rich and poor pay the same in sales taxes, stamp duties, road tolls, excise taxes, gas taxes etc etc. It’s not that it doesn’t make sense, it’s just that you don’t like it.
@ewarren
They didn’t spend money on the tax cut, they prevented you from collecting it in the vain hope that you wouldn’t spend it. Instead, you borrowed and spent, hence the debt.
With growing ambitions, a hit list: After 'dispatching' President Trump, the pro-Democratic Lincoln Project hopes to 'dispatch' others: Tucker Carlson, Tom Cotton, Josh Hawley, more. 'Our task won't be finished when Joe Biden takes the oath of office.'
You didn’t merely ask him questions, as a journalist, but made a tediously repetitive political speech unsupported by facts. You’re revealed yourself to be a dolt.

@ChrisCoons
sat across from me on the train. With Israel using US weapons to kill thousands of Palestinian civilians, including 4600+ children, I asked him why he refuses to call for a ceasefire:
Frank. Fact-checking is vitally important when you're checking to make sure the facts in your stories are right. But over the past decade, "fact checking" has taken on a different meaning. Read my column from 2008, and comment intelligently on it.
Obvious but: If to identify who Vindman leaked to is to identify the whistleblower, then not only do they know who the whistleblower is, but Vindman’s testimony doesn’t “confirm” whistleblower but repeat his own claims in circular fashion.
During my time in Congress, I have always supported assistance to Israel.
But the actions of the Israeli military under Benjamin Netanyahu leave me no choice but to oppose providing these weapons that are being used to kill so many innocent civilians in Gaza. 8/
When I fled from the Islamic Republic of Iran, I never thought I would ever see such images of London.
Terrible to see this Islamisation spreading in Europe.
The fact that these vile people support Hamas is confirmation— not that it’s needed — that decent people should support Israel in its extirpation of the terrorist organization.

Disgraceful and disingenuous tweet by Macron. The decision was a constitutional one on the law not on the moral issue, and French abortion laws are anyway as restrictive as the Mississippi law at issue in Dobbs.
Abortion is a fundamental right for all women. It must be protected. I wish to express my solidarity with the women whose liberties are being undermined by the Supreme Court of the United States.
Saying chloroquine phosphate is the same as chloroquine is like saying water is the same as hydrogen. Or another example: sprinkle sodium chloride on your food and you make it more salty, but sprikle sodium on your food and your dinner will probably catch fire.
It’s not punishment, collective or otherwise. It’s war. The government of one territory ordered and launched an attack on another. Now the attacked nation is moving to defeat the attacker. You don’t supply power and aid to your enemy.
This is collective punishment and a violation of international law.
We cannot starve nearly a million children to death over the horrific actions of Hamas, whose disregard for Israeli, Palestinian, and human life overall could not be more clear.
We must draw a line.

Raging protestors surround and nearly knock down Senator Rand Paul. They scream: “Say her name.” As it happens, in June, he introduced the the Justice for Breonna Taylor Act to ban "no-knock" warrants.

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all,” delegate AJ Durrani said at the start of the convention’s Muslim Delegates and Allies Assembly on Tuesday.
To my fellow members of the press, I suggest we refrain from quoting the presiden’ts words from prepared speeches into headlines and tweets without context. He sometimes says the right thing. The real questions are what he does and what he really believes.
The real outrage is that the NY Times thinks they're in a position to point fingers at anyone for misinformation.

Oh lort.
Something tells me that a right answer to the last question on here about the Civil Rights Act ("a lot of the Black Lives Matter activism") would be marked wrong even though it's right.
Because they teach the difference between good and evil, and universal truths rather than circumstantial, relativist, or nihilist morality. They are recognized as substantial obstacles to the Left’s bid for power.
Our American values are under attack. Babies have been ripped from their parents at the border. A tax bill passed that benefits corporations and the top 1%, while millions of middle-class families struggle to pay the bills. We’re better than this.

Has everyone stopped to meditate on the fact that an 87-year-old woman on chemo has to keep working full-time, full-force, because she's quite literally the only thing stopping the country's full slide into fascism?
You were just as wrong then as now. Hamas, the Gaza government, has just turned down ceasefires both temporary and permanent. That’s not on Israel, it’s on the terrorists.
I first called for a ceasefire on October 17. The need for one is even more dire today.
I’m more convinced today that Israel is not complying with international humanitarian law. 10/
Barr is essentially saying he doesn’t know how history WILL view it, but it SHOULD view it favorably. He answered the question with modesty and nuance not cynicism. History’s distorted and, yes, cynical first draft, from Todd, shows why that’s wise.
Very disappointed by the deceptive editing/commentary by

Compare the two transcripts below. Not only did the AG make the case in the VERY answer Chuck says he didn’t, he also did so multiple times throughout the interview.
It is indeed. It’s a decade since I banned my reporters from citing Politifact and (I think) one or two other such useless, arrogant, tendentious organizations. I haven’t checked for a while but they were staffed by failed journalists who were usually out of their depth.

It’s amazing, and also wrong from the display type on. Journalists’ should not necessarily have an adversarial relationship with power. They’re not supposed to be the opposition. Their governing relationship should be with the truth.

Yes, presumably there’s always high tension when operating a missile battery, so it can’t be a justification unless it’s always ok to destroy civilian targets accidentally.
The argument that ‘high tensions’ caused Iran to shoot down the Ukrainian passenger jet is nonsense. The fanatics in charge of Iran are both malevolent and incompetent. This regime won’t be cajoled into joining the community of nations. The best option is democratic revolution.

This really is a fight between Islamism and the free world. It’s a fight between a Middle Ages ideology and the modern world of freedom, tolerance, & secularism. Israel is on the front lines of this fight, but all of us who share these Western values are in this fight as well.
What stood out most in Betsy was courage. She dared ask questions at which other reporters groaned or rolled their eyes. She didn’t run with the pack. In this, she embraced being an outsider. It’s a fine quality in a journalist, which too many now reject.

Staying in step with the people is an inherently political matter. That’s what legislatures are for, not the judiciary. It is not for unelected judges to decided what people want. It’s for them administer the law as written by the people’s reps

Abortion was proscribed by pre-Christian civilizations, too. It’s plain ignorance that makes people assume opposition to abortion is Christian, or (more broadly) monotheistic or (still more broadly) depends on any religion.
