Captain Kathryn Janeway, played by Kate Mulgrew, was the first woman captain in the Star Trek franchise. Mulgrew gave this prop communicator badge, now in our @airandspace, to astronaut Sally Ride, a longtime Star Trek fan. Ride became the first American woman in space in 1983.
