I’m bored of paying through my teeth for the NHS and then when I even need anything basic it is basically inaccessible outside of emergencies. Would rather not pay NI & sort myself out via private cover, or more of an insurance-style model. It cannot continue as it currently is

I do think a lot of regions/countries will just take a long time, if ever, totally embrace EVs due to lack of infrastructure/willingness/govt exposure. The oil-rich countries get it so cheap, Africa will struggle to get meaningful charging presence. It’ll happen, just slowly

I think the German model seems sensible - there is a private insurance model in place for higher earners, so they don’t pay their NI-equivalent but they purchase private insurance and free up the public health service

I totally agree - if you make it inaccessible, then it is not practical if being using daily. The only problem is your skip is filled with others’ junk, sadly. Maybe if the skip is reinforce behind some kind of fence, or a tarpaulin cover. Very sad reality we now face

Correct - the net contributors are ever shrinking, whilst the net takers are ever rising and getting more greedy/demanding. You can’t magic up growth/more net contributors by continually increasing disincentives to work harder via higher taxation.
