I don’t think I’ve ever felt so sickened and angry by a Minister answering questions than I have been at the way Kemi Badenoch spoke to some LGBT members of Parliament today. Those standing up for trans people in face of her appalling rhetoric were patronised and ridiculed.
My benchmarks:
<40 - disappointing night
40-49 - about expectations
50-62 - good night
63-69 - fantastic night
>=70 - absolutely unbelievable, knight ed again. sir sir ed davey
Once again I am asking why it is one of the youngest women to lead a major party who is given the sole blame for Tory rebels like Hammond, Grieve and Gauke not wanting to put Jeremy Corbyn into No 10.
Your regular reminder that Jo Swinson could have backed a Corbyn caretaker government, kicked Boris Johnson out of 10 Downing Street, and stopped a No-Deal Brexit. She didn't. We are where we are.
I know party politics means that we're a joke to most people, obvious from the difference in the number of interactions this tweet has compared to P4A's reporting of Labour
But could we perhaps not reduce the contributions of Britain's first MP of Palestinian descent to this?

Moving on now to St Andrews to study for an MLitt in Medieval Studies, but I'll miss this city and university a lot!
Unbelievably frustrating that this is a comment from a member of the Transport Select committee - it will take decades to get the capacity improvements HS2 will provide and it’s ridiculous to stop it now with track in the ground. Build it all *and* invest in current network!
HS2 was always going to end in tears. Let’s just put it out of its misery and scrap it altogether (ps, we save a ton of taxpayers’ cash if we do - and just think how much existing railways could be improved with that money).
Both LAB and LDs will claim they're the main contenders here. Here's the stats:
🌹 LAB
- 2nd place in 2015/17/19
- Marginally better local results (19% Vs 15% in 2023)
🔶 LDs
- Arguably higher vote share ceiling (easier to attract CON voters)
- Stronger By-Election 'machine'
You don’t need a GRC to access single sex spaces, access to these spaces remains governed by the Equality Act not the GRR or GRA. Quite disappointing to see MP after MP stand up and lie
The Leader of the Opposition just refused to hold a door open for me in Parliament
The Woke London Metropolitan Elite is truly out of touch with working people

Have had a blast since 2021. YL’s a wonderful organisation with so much potential and hard work at its core - good luck for the future!

Truly humbled to be commended for my work on the Exec at YL Conference today - and in the most Lib Dem way possible, we had to suspend standing orders to do it
Thank you to my YL pals for the support and friendship over the last few years - hopefully I’ll be back soon 👀🔶

Had a blast this year with some major changes and would love your support to take YL’s comms into a general election year🔶
Response to this tweet set has been wild, do people really think we don’t see the 40 point lead Labour have? Why are members of other parties so surprised we can have a joke at our expense?
@sophxthompson
Please don’t forget that £200k+ of that goes on his staffing budget - he may be talking crap here but most of this is wages and not things he will receive personally (I may be biased as a staffer for another party’s MP, but it’s an important distinction to make!)
Cried a bit at this. Such a huge huge moment for us. Hopefully the start of bigger and better things. Amazing work by David and a massive shift from
@samjwilson2002
Just took a diversion through transphobe twitter and my god it really is sad that there are so many people who dedicate their entire lives to a misinformed, damaging idea of trans lives
Working in an MP’s office really just makes you see how some people are just fuelled by hate. You can be an MP that actively wants to make women’s lives better, and all you get is “what is a woman?“ from people whose profiles are consumed by anti-trans rhetoric
Haven’t entered into the Mid Beds discourse yet but this is in the same vein as Ben Bradshaw saying “it’s sad the Lib Dems are doing this” on Sky News on Wednesday - Labour aren’t entitled to a free run at any seat either just because a few people have good canvass returns
I’m not a huge fan of some of our messaging on ULEZ - my dad’s 56 plate Vauxhall Vectra is exempt! More should have been done to highlight the fact that there’s a compliance checker online rather than letting the Tories scare people into thinking it’s a flat tax on every driver
Environmentalism can't just be for people who can afford a Tesla.
That's why we have called for a delay to introducing the ULEZ, so that people have time to adapt.
Would be nice if
@DannyBeales
or any of the other Labour people attacking Sadiq Khan would like to explain to this resident of SW17 who lives within walking distance of two schools and a popular public park why our air shouldn’t be cleaned up

I feel like calling someone a “deviant” is a bit more than just criticism and “name-calling”’should absolutely not be accepted as a normal part of any sensible democracy
