I'm going to take a break from personal Twitter while I focus on fundraising for @streetsblogchi. We're currently at $37,276, with $27,724 to go. If you like what we do over there, please consider making a tax-deductible donation here. Thanks!

@colinbphoto Very nice. AFAIK, this part of town is pretty much the best place in Chicago to catch a sunset, which is tricky in a city with water to the east and tall buildings to the west.

- In 1993 a homeless bike messenger who slept under the Chicago/Halsted bridge started Urban Bikes, an "anarchist" bike shop, in a shelter garage. - In 2004 his partner turned it into Uptown Bikes. - On Tuesday her mechanics rebooted it as Broadway Bikes.

Attention food writers: It looks like Dear Flo's, near SBC HQ in the former Kalish and Sephardic Sisters site, is almost ready for its closeup. The uniquely tinfoil-grilled breakfast biscuit sandwich being cooked here looks tasty!

Unpopular ex-CTA boss Dorval Carter is likely to get $1M a year running a West Side hospital serving low-income people. To put that in perspective, that would pay for a year of very high-quality health insurance ($1K/month) for 83 people. 🤔 @_ManuelRamos_

@LoriFootLight @streetsblogchi @AldermanHopkins @richsday @activetrans @ctaaction @elevated_chi As required by Chicago's Affordable Requirements Ordinance, 20% of the proposed 500 units would have been affordable (e.g. to single people making $47,100) and the rest would have been market-rate.

@HarebrainedInc If a did a t-shirt design that said, "Get it hot like Jet's Pizza," my favorite fast-food pizza franchise, I'd be tempted.

@humantransit Thanks Jarrett, that's f---in' great advice. Unfortunately, some people who use this platform don't have the same civility standards.

@DanielKayHertz I think this guy meant that Canada is taking on the dog from a 1960s Christian clay-animated children's television series.

@chilandlord @prashanth_karri OK, I can't spend any more time responding to you folks' non-linear tweets, so @chilandlord, go ahead and and email me your argument about the equity ordinance you said is blocking the construction of affordable, transit-friendly apartments. Cheers.

@prashanth_karri @chilandlord It's not like the "luxury" apartments that most developers want to build would be affordable to non-affluent people otherwise. And this developer seems happy to provide the 100 affordable units, which are required by the ARO ordinance.

@chilandlord @prashanth_karri Yesterday's SBC article criticized the blocking of a large number of affordable units from being built a short distance from the 'L'. Please explain how you feel the NSPO is doing that. Seriously, if you make a convincing argument, we might run something on the subject.
