@ruth_newby @jesika55551 I've not seen that, usually they disperse when the ragwort runs out and they then wander off in search of new plants. I've noticed in captivity that larvae (of same species) will sometimes bite each other if food runs low, but rarely eat each other (even when in confined space).

@WheatersDave I don't think very many are (at least in the UK). Scarce Bordered Straw is another one - I once found several larvae on Tesco Carnations and ended up with just a single big one!

@jesika55551 Mostly they'd be eating larvae of other moth species so not technically cannibals, though I'm sure they'd have a go at other Dun-bar larvae too if they got the chance!

@mickey_ratfink I think it's probably ok to assume anomalella if the early part of the mine is packed with frass like this. I've never seen any candidates for centifoliella, with narrow frass trail in the early part, but I'd want to rear any like that to be sure of the ID.

@SteveNash71 @sambbryo @BCSouthWales Excellent, I think that will be new unless @sambbryo knows of any records this year. Just a couple of VC41 records in Wales. Safe to record without dissection?

@ArfonWilliams4 @MigrantMothUK That's a shame Arfon. Maybe tonight, if it's not too windy?

@vc30moths Have seen these a few times - think they are barkfly (Psocoptera) eggs.

@ruth_newby @RichardFoxBC The default option in my garden would be Light Brown Apple Moth - suspect that's what it will be.

@mickey_ratfink Snap with 8 species. Better than expected on a chilly night. Also had RLQ new for the year, along with Sallow.

@mickey_ratfink That might be true...I usually manage 80-100 trap nights a year in the garden. But you do get more than me on the best nights in summer :-)
