@theheatherhogan Many years ago I was at a baby shower and my then 4 year old called me and said, “I miss you. I wish I was there.” I replied, “Honey, you don’t want to be here. It’s b-o-r-i-n-g.” Then I noticed everyone looking at me and realized they could spell. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I gave the school district superintendent an earful today when he made the mistake of asking me how my day was going. I made it clear that it was not going well at all due to a decision he made that gives me a lot more work. Inappropriate or good for me for speaking up?

I’m remembering the time a student returned a book to the library and said, “I really thought it was going to be a ‘window’ book, but it was actually a ‘mirror’ book which makes sense since sometimes you can see your reflection in a window,” and I was like 🤯.

@JMCwrites @AmeDyckman Now I work for the library system & I have helped to create a utopia for children in our Youth Service’s department. Parents often drag their kids out kicking screaming and I always say, “Don’t worry, it’s a good problem to have when your child doesn’t want to leave the library.”

@JMCwrites @AmeDyckman My son (2 at the time) was crying because I said it was time to leave the library. An employee then came over & told to leave due to the noise. On my way out, a patron was really rude about the fact that I brought kids at night. I worked full time and my husband was deployed!

My mom told me that on the news this morning she saw a 9th grader reading a sexually explicit excerpt from a book he got from his school library and claimed that the librarian offered him an even more graphic version. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I had to explain what a graphic novel is.

@neilhimself This reminds me of when my son cut my hair. I was doing my mother’s hair for her and then my 5-year-old son came up behind me and said, “You’re cutting Grandma’s hair and I’m cutting your hair.” It took me a moment to process what he was saying and in that moment this happened:

On behalf of myself and @NJGov , welcome to New Jersey. If you’re speeding or passing, stay on the left. If not, get out of the way and stick to the right! That’s pretty much all you need to know. Oh, and Central Jersey exists. Those are the facts you need.

@Taylorbstewart @ProjectLITComm Thank you! You hear that @gunsnroses ? Just cancel your tour so Ticketmaster will give me my money back. I could really use it right now. And if there’s another tour I’ll buy tickets but in the meantime, groceries are more important.

@EDUwithEmily I got my Masters using the GI Bill. If I decided to go for a EdD or PhD then I’d look into tuition reimbursement available through my school district. Or else divorce my husband and remarry another soldier in order to use their GI Bill. The first option is probably easier.

@wokeSTEMteacher @caitteach I will not force him to be on camera and anyone that requires him to do so will have to fight me. I will withdraw him from school if it comes to it. Students first.

@misskubelik Are you aware of @FirstBook ? Definitely register for an account and check out the marketplace and book bank. Try not to spend your own money like I often do! It’s hard, especially when you see such awesome books at great prices.

@LitJrzyGrl THIS is a hill I’d die on. Every student should be able to find themselves in a book. EVERY STUDENT. Tenure or not, I’d fight that fight.
