My seventeen year old is an intern at their high school library and was involved in picking new books to add to the library for next year. They managed to make sure that the Indigenous literature section went from three books to 64. Yes I am bragging about them again 💙

Also, “soft parenting” is a silly assertion. I’m not a soft parent. I actually expect quite a bit from my kids, but I expect things that are developmentally appropriate and I don’t use punitive measures to help them achieve those goals. There are consequences, but natural ones.

The majority of these people will be headed to the USA as refugees. The USA and the Bahamas have an agreement that Bahamanian citizens can enter the USA without a passport or visa. I’m terrified of what Trump will do when thousands of black refugees arrive.

Appalachia was reserved for Native Americans. Most of the tribes east of Appalachia had been living in mostly peace or been wiped out by disease and war was rare in the colonies. Jefferson wanted his money so he made up a lie to scare the white colonists and it worked

I grew up on free school lunch and it was heartbreaking when I had to use a different colored lunch ticket and it was very obvious that I had free lunches. It means a ton to kids that the question of free lunch isn’t even an issue anymore.

My mom got fired from being a public school teacher in 1980 because she had a baby without being married. She never stopped being a teacher because that is where her heart was. There are valid criticisms of Warren, but calling her out for saying she is a teacher isn’t one of them
