@TylerAlterman First make them feel totally seen without judgement, might take days or weeks. Then there is no step two.

What's your fav resource for learning how to pick good startup ideas? PG essays, 0->1, Founders pod, levelsio, sama advice, Hormozi, Acquired pod, Mom Test, Elad Gil, Garry Tan & YC advice, MFM, etc... I'm putting something together for future founders.

What are your qs about going from 0->100 followers on tiktok? I still stuck, but now a) I'm comfortable in front of the camera and b) I've posted dozens of videos and get engagement. If you're scared of posting your first few videos, what are your questions and hesitations?

Assertiveness-training: What are your questions? I've taught one person (my wife!) how to become pretty assertive. It's a super useful skill. And I don't mean rudely assertive. I mean, still feels both nice and kind, but also not pushover. Liked *and* respected. Qs?

@TylerAlterman It sucks though, because you’ll wanna help them. And the part of you that it most for is the part of you that felt the same thing about your own situations in the past and was ignored. Therefore, make that part of you that wants to help them, feel seen by yourself Path forward

What are your questions about getting on the front-page of HN? I've written/built perhaps ~10 front-page things at this point, have a pretty good fingertip feel for what HN likes. (Of course, quality is key.)

Founder-led sales and recruiting from employee 10-250. What are your qs on these topics? I've done the former (sold millions in ACV myself) and helped quite a few companies do the latter (10->250 is hardest because you've tapped out network, but have no brand yet)

Things I’m tracking for voice agents: speech-to-speech, @Vapi_AI , @kwindla Cerebrium, @cartesia_ai (SOTA?), @trydaily , Hume AI (was lacking when I tried, has it improved?), and awaiting gpt4o speech to speech API.

@andrewwhite01 @gpt_index @LangChainAI How’d you combine gpt index and langchain? I’ve used them both separately but not combined. I’m guessing you used gpt index for all the document retrieval and langchain to just do the chaining

This would be a good bootstrapped business. Record, save and catalogue ads. Allow marketers to subscribe. There’s a similar business that sells to designers — all it is: screenshots and videos of existing apps, designers subscribe for inspiration. Marketers would do the same.

i don't think people realize how hard it is to search for ads they're not indexed anywhere, collected anywhere. they're shown all the goddamn time but you can't actually study them or even share them. how bizarre

One of the biggest things we’ll need is lower latency language models. When you’re chatting, milliseconds make a big difference. Especially with voice. Anything good exist here?

@jerhadf @Vapi_AI @kwindla @cartesia_ai @trydaily Thank you! Basically am hoping for something like gpt4o voice. Native low latency tone input/understanding and tone output. When I tried it, tone understanding was inaccurate. Was a while back though. Will happily watch any new demo videos or use any new demos!

@ntkris My experience is that embeddings feel like GPT-2 and we need GPT-3.5 or GPT-4. Just not good enough in their understanding. Needs to be more dimensions and based on a smarter model.

My preferred framing of boundaries: boundaries are statements of future consequences. “Hey, heads up, if you do X, I’ll do Y.” Delivered neutrally and peacefully. You’re just telling them the rules of the video game.

I think many people here are thinking about “boundaries” in a way that is incorrect and potentially harmful. Please let me know if I’m saying this in a way that makes sense. 🧵

It might be interesting to examine why people don't simply focus their time and attention on what they want to see more of, because it's one of those things that literally just improves your life full stop, no tradeoff required. On a basic sense, social media platforms

If you're a startup trying to decide whether to sell to startups or do "enterprise deals," you should usually choose startups. They're the early adopters. They don't have as much money, but they decide quickly, and they'll have a better influence on your product.

Yes, rate of adaptation. One measure of AI: in which areas does it learn new skills and to solve new problems faster than humans do? When AI adapts faster than us, strange times ahead.

Intelligence is not about memorizing all the answers. It's about how you adapt when you're faced with something you were not prepared for. It's the ability to learn on the fly and quickly pick up new skills.
