You know what's riveting? Fastening pieces of metal together. Enlarging drilled holes, though, is boring.

Every time I see Carlos Alcaraz's name pop up I think it's a story about Alcatraz.

One reason why I think a lot of pure play software companies are basically dead men walking.

I'm sick of paying for gumroad. Tomorrow I'm going to build my own gumroad with bolt + cursor. Will go from 0 to live app in 24 hours.

Normies still think ChatGPT can’t do math. It’s wild how behind the times they are, or how far out on the bleeding edge I am.

A trend I’m noticing is that a lot of academic/intellectual types fail to understand the rate at which ai tech is improving, when they try to understand how it will affect the world.

The dumbest argument against Mara-a-Gaza is that nation building in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Vietnam didn't work. Gaza is much smaller than any of those countries, with much more favorable terrain, and is surrounded on all sides by allies of the United States, over whom the United States exerts significant leverage. Neither Tel Aviv/Jerusalem nor Cairo will of course admit to such leverage, but: consider the amount of military aid dumped into each country each year by the United States. Now, there certainly are *good* arguments for why Mar-a-Gaza is a stupid idea. But the failures of Iraq, Afghanistan, and Vietnam are not among them.

Chatty is being weird today. I asked it to do some calculations in freedom units and it kept converting them to metric.

@SpencrGreenberg I'd rather that AI tell me why I am wrong, than to placate me.

@dollyalderton @TheSTMagazine In the sitcom I did recently I wanted to have someone say (not sing) the words "imagine no possessions". It was legaled out. Was told we'd have to pay for the lyric. So, ironically, the Lennon Estate owns the words "imagine no possessions".

ChatGPT's tendency towards prolixity is sometimes annoying. I wish it had the contextual awareness to understand when concision is called for.

ChatGPT really can be a productivity multiplier but you have to hold it by the reins to get any real work done. Else it tends to wander off on flights of fancy.

Seems to me that paralysis by analysis is a real risk here but he says he and his wife have been reviewing his increasingly long dialogue daily and working on their issues. As ever if you complement analysis with action great things can happen.
