This week we brought together local leaders to directly engage with state representatives and tour Western North Carolina communities impacted by Hurricane Helene. We facilitated conversations on the current state of federal and state disaster recovery funding, and collaborated on long-term solutions. Keep an eye out for more on how we're working to unite local leaders, lawmakers, and state agencies through the WNC Recovery & Resilience Partnership.

Our next stop is Marshall, NC one of the heaviest hit areas during Hurricane Helene. Pictured below is what’s left of the community’s town hall after the storm. The local and state leaders with us today are working across jurisdictions to rebuild a stronger more resilient WNC.

Our first stop is the @CityofAsheville downtown area where Hurricane Helene devastated the commercial district’s small businesses still struggling to get back on their feet after the storm. This underscores the wide reaching impacts of flooding and the need for long term solutions.
