The fact that he comes out of comatose blind of all things is very very curious and very very intentional. Blindness in literature and drama is a CLASSIC device. It’s notably utilized in Sophocles’s ‘Oedipus Rex’ and in Samuel Beckett’s ‘Waiting for Godot’. See where I’m going?

This grief is unresolvable because he knows he should not be alive. For as long as Diego Armando is Godot, he is essentially a soul yet to be put to rest and can only operate on rage & despair— blindness isn’t exactly reversible, only aided. Godot can only see if he’s seeing red.

AA4 is often criticized for this 7y gap, many citing weak writing and poor planning to make such a leap in the timeline. And I agree to an extent, but I think there is plenty of intrigue in this decision made by the writers to include such a timeskip, which I’ll get into shortly.
