Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward will take a leave of absence to be with her dying mother. A press release says the terminal diagnosis was sudden and unexpected, but there was at least one event earlier this year Woodward skipped due to her mom being in the hospital.

A lot of stores have had their toilet paper supplies wiped out, but no so for gas stations and mini marts, at least in rural Washington. A clerk at a Moses Lake Chevron station said she's not putting out the store's whole supply at once, just in case "some asshole takes it all."
