@PsychologyUK1 @CianAherne @JenniferHRos @BPSOfficial It becomes a long term belief the longer it is internalised. Iβm glad we found some common ground. I am describing therapy basics and core skills of person centred therapy. My hope is that it is standard practice by all MH professionals.

@PsychologyUK1 @CianAherne @JenniferHRos @BPSOfficial Itβs specific to the person so supporting each person through crisis will look very different based on their social, relational, emotional, physical and economic circumstances and needs

@PsychologyUK1 @CianAherne @JenniferHRos @BPSOfficial It lessens the chance of a person internalising a long term belief that there is something wrong with them/they are disordered because they experience extreme mood changes? I would use the language they use to describe their experiences

@PsychologyUK1 @CianAherne @JenniferHRos @BPSOfficial Why does person centred care need to involve diagnosis of a disorder in the first place? Could it be possible that a person receives the care they need, whatever that may be at the time, without a disordered label? A needs based model rather than a diagnostic model?

@PsychologyUK1 @CianAherne @JenniferHRos @BPSOfficial I agree that we should start with the testimonies and experiences of those with lived experience.

@PsychologyUK1 @CianAherne @JenniferHRos @BPSOfficial There are people who experience mania and depression who may not want to be called bipolar or disordered. The purpose of offering a different language is so people can be informed and then draw their own conclusions. That is not a choice people get most of the time.
