dead weight is out today—to anyone struggling, to the girls who saved me & continue to do so every day, this book is for you. i know it hurts, and i hope this helps.
Ottessa Moshfegh told me vanity is still the enemy but that does not mean one has to look like shit, amid other pearls of wisdom re sobriety, smoking & fate…up now
@InterviewMag

@NewYorker
(also for being the first publication to notice that my book is as much about simone weil as mischa barton)
can confirm…have never lived laughed or loved so hard at a literary event…tragically had no choice but to read my ninth grade op ed against careerism at my prep school (couldn’t find my journal entries about walking in a zig zag pattern to avoid the dc sniper)
over the weekend i hosted a reading where writers were only allowed to read things they’d written between 6th and 12th grade. not to brag but like 100 people showed up and it was 14000 times more fun than basically every other “literary event” i’ve ever been to
was lucky enough to talk to the internet’s princess
@raynefq
about the sick, sad girl trope, the cognitive dissonance inherent to recovery in a world that wants you sick, sad and small, solidarity, friendship & how fabulously life-affirming a conversation w another girl can be…

want you to deconstruct the Western beauty standard.
Below,

probably the closest we’ll ever get to an idea of universal girlhood is experiencing some form of an eating disorder but that’s not very marketable is it

Keep mixing up Emma Cline and Emmaline Cline so I briefly thought that the woman who wrote this really good book on eating disorders had won a Guggenheim.
overwhelmed by having a cover AND a preorder link for my book!! smash that purchase button if you've been wondering why you hate yourself...& if you already know why, do it for marissa cooper, big pharma malfeasance, megan fox, medieval anorexics, etc.
