The Nicene Creed saves ppl (from silly posts):

Brooke and Billy got married so she would be eligible for his military benefits. Could a generous pro-family policy that values marriage have the same effect on couples?
I’m proud to work for an organization that is unapologetically committed to protecting unborn life—inside of the womb or in a petri dish.
Why should the location of an embryo determine its value?
IVF in the U.S. relies on destruction of embryos, intentionally or not. The well-being of children, not profit margins, should be the top priority when it comes to IVF and embryonic cryopreservation.
@emlwaters
For the first time since the Bush-era stem cell debates, a reproductive technology has taken center stage in American politics.

I’ve had the same questions. It seems to reflect the larger disconnect between marriage and children, too. Rather than seeing children as the extension of a married couple and a desirable fruit of such unions, child-free weddings suggest that children are distinct and optional.
Why are so many people having child-free weddings?
Isn’t the point of a wedding to bring friends and family together to celebrate the start of a new family?

A second option is to build on the sometimes forgotten legacy of using block grants to allow states innovate with At-Home Infant Care (AHIC) programs. These programs have also gain bipartisan support at different points in time.
From the Perspective of the Embryo, IVF Is Not Very Pro-Life.
While Democrats push for unlimited access to IVF, many Republicans, when pressed, have claimed they’re both “pro-life and pro-IVF.”
While politically smart, what do Republicans mean when they say this?
🧵One of the arguments for state-funded (or health insurance subsidized) in vitro fertilization is that it will increase birthrates, and therefore ensure more people have more babies.
But this is misguided, and based on international evidence, unlikely to succeed. Here's why 👇
100%. It's a distinction between pro-natalism and a "pro-family" camp that recognizes that children are good, but how we create them and to whom they go also matters.
We must value wellbeing of the child and the whole family, not just the creation of child as an end in itself.
There’s a tension between pro-natalism and concerns abt Repro. Tech. If what matters is having children, then why shouldn’t people have a right to reproduction? Unqualified pro-natalism can’t say why. This is why Xn sexual/repro ethics must be more than pro-natalist.
Third trimester “insomnia” is such a powerful testament of God’s thoughtful design.
Prolactin (breastfeeding hormone) is highest around 3am and tends to wake you up for a while. It trains and prepares you to wake up & feed the babe once he/she is born.
SO cool.😯
This is what it looks like to have a generation of porn addicted and sexually preyed upon kids:
Everything is sexualized. No boundaries exist to allow for the sweet bonds of female friendship and a natural physical intimacy devoid of sexual attraction and perversion.
First, the law is a teacher. A culture that celebrates abortion as a necessary “choice” for female empowerment will one day find itself encouraging an unsympathetic audience to have children earlier in life.
Kendrick Lamar muted his original lyrics in “Alright” REMOVING his reference to hating the police but kept the “I’m at the preachers door..” 🤷🏽♀️ is KendricK bAsEd?!
This is the heart of the pro-family ethic: the creation and care of children created through IVF must be governed with the highest standard of medical care.
Ends do not justify means. If we believe that life begins at conception, then we must protect life each step of IVF.
@swinshi
“Preferences” don’t exist in a vacuum. The larger part of the story are the anti-family policies, emphasis on individualism > familism culturally, the lack of healthy family structures that current/future kids grew up in, and the emphasis on career > homemaking.
@Greg1Garrett
@Baylor

‘Nobody supports abortion up until birth!’
Here’s Senator Durbin admitting that he would be okay with a baby being aborted the day before he or she is born.
This weekend has reminded me of the chasm between those who are pro-family vs. those who are pro-natalist:
A pro-family approach recognizes that *how* children are created and *to whom* they go matters. More children by whatever means is not a societal win, despite declining BR.
The truth is, most people haven’t thought about the reproductive industry beyond “yay babies!” because it’s uncomfortable and unpopular to do so. And when they’re confronted with the concerns of people who *have* thought about it, the knee jerk reaction is anger. They’re angry
Not only is procreation between mothers/sons rightly considered incestuous, but we have no idea what sort of genetic and physical issues this child will inherit because of the IVF treatments and parentage.
Children have an innate desire to know their mother and father.. imagine
Brilliant reporting:
Before they are allowed to even speak to the doctor, a woman is required to a) take a Xanax, causing drowsiness and disorientation and b) to remove her pants, leaving her vulnerable, exposed, and at the mercy of a corrupt medical professional.
NEW:
@LiveAction
tells me one of their pregnant activist investigators went undercover in Washington Surgi Clinic in January, posing as a woman looking for an abortion, and recorded a nurse discussing Dr. Santangelo’s abortion techniques.
It's funny that the same Republicans who support more contraception as a winning issue, also support more access to IVF, a treatment that routinely tests, freezes, and destroys unwanted embryos.
@KellyannePolls
Does life begin at conception, or not?
@EmperorXLair
We should focus on enabling restorative reproductive technology that seeks to heal and restore a woman's body to function as it ought. Circumventing the problem, and adding in a host of moral concerns, is not the approach.
🧵 I think it’s helpful to keep in mind (1) the concept of productive labor shown in Proverbs 31 woman and Ruth. For much of Christian history, writing was one of the main ways that a woman served Christ and her family (Jane Austen, etc) bc she could from/through the home. 1/3

This couldn’t be further from the truth.
The first court cases dealing with surrogacy (I.e. New Jersey with Baby M, etc) point-blank called surrogacy baby-selling and unnatural. Only in very recent years has the law softened, unlike many developed European countries.
Our daughter says “ma ma” when she’s distressed or needs comfort; “da da” when she’s excited and wants to play.
Even babies instinctively know that Mom and Dad care for them in distinct and equally important ways. 🥹

What does it say about the pervasive impact of IVF on how we conceive of children that this woman, and likely many others, delighted in her embryos as long as they were under her control? The moment she misread the AL decision, that embryos are persons not property, she recoiled.
When Kelley Stafford, a 37-year-old lifelong Republican in Trussville, Alabama, first read the headline—“Alabama Supreme Court rules frozen embryos are ‘children’ under state law”—she figured it was a win for Christians like herself.
“That’s wonderful!!!” she texted her mother
Day Two 🥳
A woman’s body and mind bear the marks of pregnancy long after the child’s birth.
The child heals the mother’s brain even as pregnancy transforms it; the child’a DNA still circulates in her veins. The mother never forgets the child she bears, even as a surrogate.
For Gen Z women who have observed the unhappy zero-sum game that is the battle of the sexes, many feel that the modern world, for all its promises, has failed them. They’re looking for an older, and truer, model for how to live a good life.
Notably, Hungary offers state-funded IVF for all married couples.
Spain, too, provides state funded IVF for all. About 1 in 10 births is from this A.R.T. Yet Spain has a BR of ~1.68.
Far from resolving low BR, what if Repro tech creates the very problem it wants to solve?
Welcome to trad wife feminism: under the guise of “trad values” one rejects the norms of healthy fams (both parents help raise & care 4 the kids) and places herself as the ultimate arbiter. The “real power” is at home & she just ensured that he has no power where it matters most.

“I wish I’d had more clarity when I began IVF. No one counseled me to consider other options, nor was I told how many extra embryos may be possible. I wasn’t advised to think about what I might do with excess embryos. I simply hoped to produce as many as I needed.”

Whether one is in favor of commercial surrogacy or not, it’s deeply concerning that
