18 Pieces of Writing Advice
1—Don't "kill your darlings." Just copy/paste your prized phrases/sentences/passages that don't fit in your current piece into a different file for future use.
2—Try moving sentences/paragraphs around.
3—When in doubt about whether to delete

Focus on the sense of place, the Germans have this word Ort, you probably know it as ‘place,’ but it really means the tip of a spear, where everything runs together—when it hits a living thing, the wound is where b-b-being gathers
When I was in high school, I thought Cormac McCarthy was mine. It is now clear that others feel the same. I have no remarks on his death because I am utterly heartbroken by his infidelity.
