She was also one of the early advocates for an independent Nigeria, like there’s archival footage of her with Zik travelling to London to advocate for Nigerians, she was a staunch feminist and worked with market women to educate them and ensure that the upper class women weren’t.
At least her son gets some credit for the work he did. The Nigerian school curriculum taught us that her highest achievement was being the first woman to drive a car, meanwhile, she literally founded the Nigerian Union of Teachers (among many other great things).
