In Delta, the Higgins Family turned their single family lot into four homes to meet their housing needs. Mom and dad live in unit 1, grandma lives in unit 2, and the kids live in units 3 and 4. This is the type of unique housing solution that should be legalized everywhere.

Delta Council only just endorsed a parental leave policy. We now have 3 parents with young children on council vs 0 five years ago.
If we want anyone under 40 in elected office then we need to support young parents in politics. The alternative is politics as a retirement gig.
Working mothers & parents of young children deserve representation in the People's House, too. It's democracy, not charity.
I'm grateful to have a spouse, Premier, House Leader, Whip, colleagues (on both sides of the House), staff, & constituents who recognize & support that.

How would you feel if this was proposed on your duplex lined street? Precisely. Which is why I opposed aspects of the Broadway Plan. My friends on West 14th aren't NIMBYs but don't want this next door, so I am motivated to start the battle all over again.

There’s so much wrong with this take. Here’s the truth: we’ve NEVER had a free market for housing. Multi-unit housing is ILLEGAL in 75% of our cities. New legislation removes restrictions created by Gov’t and finally allows communities to grow in response to unprecedented demand.
I believe – emphatically – that homes in British Columbia are too expensive, both for renters and homeowners. I don’t believe that the BC NDP’s housing legislation solves the problem.

More photos from the impact at Highway 99 and 112 Street. More delays for commuters. Lost revenue for local businesses. Millions of tax dollars in repairs. The penalties for this must be so punitive that no company dares risk sending an under-qualified driver on the road again.
I wish this was a throwback post. Another day, another overpass damaged on a major highway. Time to test out the province’s new maximum fines.
I hope the repairs for this crossing won’t result in even more challenges for local residents and businesses.

but the details of his housing plan today ($ penalties + incentives to munis for housing density, demands on density for transit $ and putting fed land into housing) is very very similar to what many BC New Democrats think needs to happen.

Our Childcare Action Plan calls for the creation of over 1000 new spaces by 2030. Pre-zoning to allow daycare is a significant step towards this goal. 1/3
